Applicants must: 

  • Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand.
  • Have a minimum GPA or equivalent in previous studies for undergraduate degree applicants. Please refer to minimum GPA criteria (PDF). Postgraduate coursework applicants must have a minimum GPA in undergraduate studies of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or 5.5 on a 7.0 scale.
  • Have applied and be eligible for admission, or be in receipt of a conditional or unconditional offer from the University, for entry into an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree by the scholarship closing date.
  • Have satisfied all appropriate entry requirements for the proposed degree program, including results of previous study and English language proficiency as per Griffith University's entry requirements.
  • Be commencing (not existing) and enrolling as a full-time student in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree Trimester 2 or 3 2018 at Griffith University.

Application details

Applicants must provide and will be assessed by a panel on:

  • A completed scholarship application form by the published closing dates.
  • Academic merit in prior studies. Applicants must provide a certified/attested true copy of supporting documentation demonstrating strong academic merit.
  • Assessment of a Personal Statement that addresses why the applicant has applied for the scholarship, the selected program of study at Griffith University, and other information they feel strengthens their application for the scholarship.

Value details

The scholarship covers 50 % of tuition fees that will be deducted from undergraduate or postgraduate coursework tuition fees for the duration of the program.

Publication Assistance Scholarship Scheme

Eligibility requirements

Scholarships will be available only to those who:

  • were enrolled in a higher degree doctoral research program at Griffith University.
  • have submitted their thesis or have an approved intended submission date (via the Notice of Intention to Submit Thesis Form). The scholarship must commence within four weeks of the thesis submission date.
  • are able to devote sufficient time to writing up the publication for the duration of the scholarship (equivalent to full-time enrolment); and
  • where submission of the thesis has occurred/will occur within three and a half years full-time equivalent (FTE) enrolment; and
  • where the publication rule for thesis submission has been met.

Candidates who submit their thesis under the lapsed candidature regulations, or have previously been in receipt of a Completion Assistance Postgraduate Research Scholarship (CAPRS) are ineligible.

Application details

Higher degree research candidates wishing to apply for the Publication Assistance Scholarship Scheme should complete and submit the application form(with supporting documentation and signatures from their principal supervisor, HDR Convenor and Head of Element/Financial Delegate) viamyGriffith > My Research > My Candidate Centre.

It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the application form is fully completed - including all signatures - prior to submitting the application via myGriffith.

GGRS-IEIS Conference Travel Grants

Study level

Postgraduate

Eligibility requirements

GGRS Conference Travel Grants will be available to those applicants who:

  • are enrolled in a research doctorate at Griffith University, and will be enrolled during the period of conference attendance (i.e. must not have submitted the thesis)
  • are confirmed in their candidature (applicants must have received official notice of confirmation)
  • have completed a minimum of 1.5 years full-time enrolment, or equivalent
  • are able to produce an abstract that is of quality and that is potentially publishable
  • have not previously received a Conference Travel Grant funded by the Griffith Graduate Research School or International Experience Incentive Scheme
  • where a cognate Research Centre exists, are a member of that Research Centre
  • are presenting at a conference outside Australia that is of international significance (the conference paper should be directly related to the applicant’s research topic at Griffith University)
  • have not exceeded their original maximum submission date
  • are not fixed-term or continuing Griffith University staff members
  • are not enrolled in the PhD by Prior Publication program
  • are the sole or main author of the presentation
  • have obtained study away approval
  • are not presenting at a conference in their home country (i.e. country of citizenship).

Application details

Applications must be submitted, by the due date for the round, with supporting documentation and appropriate endorsements (Principal Supervisor, and HDR Convenor).

It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the application form is fully completed - including all signatures - prior to submitting the application via myGriffith.

The following supporting documentation must accompany the application:

  • Brochure or notices prepared by conference organisers
  • Evidence of paper being accepted to the conference (if available)
  • Evidence of costs (if available) i.e. conference/flight costs/quotes
  • Abstract of the paper to be presented
  • Proof of international significance of the conference if not clearly shown in documents above. This may be indicated by the presence of international speakers, or a listing of previous conference venues showing that the conference is held in a range of international locations
  • MyTrips screen shot (refer to section 6 of the Conference Travel Grant - Conditions of Award).

Please note that applicants who are not able to provide proof of acceptance as a participant in the conference program or the My Trips screen shot with their application will still be considered; however, evidence will need to be provided to claim the grant if the application is successful.

Value details

The maximum amount that eligible candidates may apply for is AUD $1,500. A grant of AUD $1,500 will be funded AUD $250 by IEIS, AUD $500 by the applicant's Research Centre and the remainder by GGRS.

Completion Assistance Postgraduate Research Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Scholarships will be available only to those who:

  • Are enrolled in a higher degree research doctoral program at Griffith University and are able to enrol full-time for the duration of the scholarship
  • Have completed a minimum of 24 months full-time equivalent (FTE) enrolment
  • Will not be in receipt of any other full living allowance stipend during the tenure of the scholarship
  • Have sufficient effective full-time candidature remaining to complete their thesis within the tenure of the scholarship and before their maximumsubmission date
  • Have not received an extension to their maximum submission date.

Application details

Higher Degree Research candidates wishing to apply for the Completion Assistance Postgraduate Research Scholarship should complete and submit the application form (with supporting documentation and signatures from their principal supervisor, HDR Convenor and Head of Element/Financial Delegate) via myGriffith>My Research>My Candidate Centre.

Value details

50% of the scholarship value will be borne by the candidate's Element or Group. The period of tenure of a scholarship will be up to 12 weeks, paid as three lump sum payments.

Deans Sir Samuel Griffith and Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarships

To be eligible you must:

  • be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder, Australian Permanent Resident, New Zealand Citizen or International student who is completing or has completed Years 11 and 12 in Australia
  • be a student commencing University for the first time
  • have not undertaken/commenced any tertiary study, with the exception of those undertaken as part of year 11-12 studies (eg. enhanced studies program)
  • have applied to attend Griffith University in 2018
  • meet the eligibility criteria for a degree program and receive and accept an admission offer
  • achieve a result which places you in the range of the OP band 1-3, including International Baccalaureate (IB) or an equivalent Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) (Bonus ranks do not apply)
  • current year 12 school leavers: for Deans Sir Samuel need to have Griffith University listed as their first or second QTAC/UAC preference

China Scholarship Council and Griffith University PhD Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must meet candidate eligibility requirements as prescribed by CSC and Griffith in accordance with their rules and policies. The favoured areas of study for this program are drug discovery, environmental studies, nanoscience, and water science; however, this program is extended to all research areas. Candidates must fulfil all relevant academic entry requirements, including the prescribed level of English language proficiency for PhD admission and scholarships at Griffith. Candidates are required to hold a bachelor degree with first-class honours or second-class honours (Division A), or a masters degree incorporating a significant research component, from a recognised institution; or equivalent. Candidates must meet the selection criteria set out by CSC.
