How to write a review

Imagine you’re chatting to a friend...what would you tell them about the institution and your experience? Please note, reviews should be written in English.

To get you started, here’s a few ideas on what you could include:

  • What did you enjoy most about the institution?
  • What do you wish you had known about the institution before you arrived?
  • What are the institution’s facilities like? Which facilities did you use?
  • What challenges did you overcome?
  • What extra-curricular activities did you take part in? What can local students to do for fun in the area?

Do a lot of research and ask questions on your own and try your best to figure out your goals early on and then Stanford will get you there. But you got to know what you want first, which can take a while to figure out.

For HS students interested in Stanford, know that Stanford looks at more than just your grades. You need some extra-curricular activities in your resume. You need to be a solid citizen.

Job prospects*
Do you believe your job prospects have increased as a result of your studies? Will you be keeping in touch with fellow alumni? Is there an alumni association you can join?

  • When criticising any aspect of your experience, do not name individuals. Please explain your criticism fully instead of making broad statements (e.g. instead of 'The staff are bad', say 'The staff are often late for class and don't offer any support’.)
  • Don't include telephone numbers or email addresses
  • Remember that other students will be reading your reviews – keep it constructive!

If a review breaks any of these rules, we have the right to not publish it.
