The School of Economics and Finance is pleased to offer up to 20 scholarships valued from £2,000 to £10,000, to outstanding applicants from the MSc Economics programme. Eligibility requirements Scholarships will be awarded on purely on the basis of demonstrated potential for academic excellence on the programme applied. The potential for excellence will be judged to be demonstrated if the application: Shows that it exceeds our minimum entry requirements by a significant margin and/or otherwise outperforms applicants competing for the scholarships under consideration. Shows excellent performance on specific modules considered relevant and valuable preparation for the programme applied to, e.g. on quantitative and economics/finance modules.

QMUL-Chevening Scholarships and Partner Awards

Chevening Scholarships are available for students from all nationalities. All Chevening awards cover full overseas tuition fees, as well as providing a stipend for living costs, air-fares, and a variety of other expenses. Chevening Scholars also benefit from a year-long programme of events helping you experience the best of British culture and to make the most of your time in the UK. There are two types of award on offer at QMUL: QMUL-Chevening Scholarships A large number of these awards will be available across all one-year QMUL masters courses. QMUL-Chevening Partner Awards In addition to the QMUL-Chevening Scholarships, QMUL also supports an additional seventeen QMUL-Chevening Partner Awards. These awards are for specific academic departments and for particular courses. Please see the website for full details

Applications for all scholarships must be made directly to the Chevening: full details on how to apply are available on the Chevening’s webpages. In order to be considered for a QMUL-Chevening Partner Award, candidates are encouraged to place QMUL as their first choice university. The deadline for applications is Tuesday 8 November 12:00 GMT. Candidates should also apply for their chosen Masters programme at QMUL through our online portal in the normal way. Candidates are encouraged to QMUL as early as possible to ensure that their application can be processed in a time to meet the Chevening’s deadline for the confirmation of their unconditional university offer in July 2017.

International Science and Engineering Excellence Awards will be deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the College. They apply to all postgraduate taught courses offered by the following Schools: School of Biological and Chemical Sciences School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science School of Engineering and Materials Science School of Physics and Astronomy School of Mathematical Sciences (MSc Network Science only) The scholarship is worth £3,000. To be eligible to receive the scholarship students must have achieved a UK First Class Bachelor’s degree or an overseas equivalent. For overseas equivalents please refer to the website. Eligibility criteria You must have achieved a UK First Class Bachelor’s degree or an overseas equivalent. You must be eligible to pay overseas tuition fees. This scheme is available only to students who apply for and enrol in an eligible course in the Faculty of Science and Engineering in the 2018/19 academic year. You must not be in receipt of any other College scholarship or full-fee scholarship from any other source, eg Chevening. If you are awarded the £3,000 scholarship it will be deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the College. You must be able to finance the remainder of your tuition fees and living expenses. You must be an asylum seeker, the child of an asylum seeker or hold Discretionary Leave to Remain. You must be ineligible to obtain funding from the Student Loan Company. You must have firmly accepted a place on an undergraduate course in the Faculty of Science & Engineering or the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. You must not already hold an equivalent or higher qualification. The bursaries will provide: £1,700 QMUL Bursary per year plus £7,097 living cost grant per year for those living in a parental home; or £11,002 living cost grant per year for those living independently, plus full tuition fee waiver.

Asylum Seekers Fee Concession

Queen Mary University of London is pleased to offer a tuition fee concession to all asylum seekers or children of asylum seekers who meet the criteria below. While your asylum application is under consideration by the Home Officer, you will be entitled to pay the ‘home’ rate of tuition fees. This fee concession will be available to all undergraduate students on all programmes, except those course offered by the School of Medicine and Dentistry that lead to qualified status as a doctor, dentist, or dental hygienist or therapist. To be considered for an asylum seekers fee concession, you must meet the following requirements: - you or your parent/guardian or spouse/partner must have submitted an asylum or human rights application, which is awaiting a decision from the Home Office; - have applied for asylum before applying to study at university; - hold a conditional or unconditional offer to study at Queen Mary University of London in the following academic year AND accepted this firmly; - not have completed undergraduate degree level study elsewhere.

Queen Mary Alumni Loyalty Award

The Alumni Loyalty Award is open to all Queen Mary graduates enrolling on a postgraduate degree programme who are self-funding at least part of their tuition fees. Queen Mary graduates are defined as anyone who has undertaken an undergraduate degree, postgraduate degree or exchange programme (for at least one semester) at Queen Mary University of London. The children of Queen Mary alumni are also eligible for this Award. Postgraduate degree programmes are defined as any full-time, part-time or distance learning Master’s or Doctorate* degree programme offered at QMUL. Joint-awards, split-site degrees and courses less than 12 months in length are not eligible. This Award can be combined with other Queen Mary scholarships but will not be awarded to fully sponsored students. Students who are partly sponsored will have the discount applied to that part of the fees which are not being paid for elsewhere. *This award will be made available for PhD students from September 2018 entry onwards.
