Chevening Awards

Student requirements

All 12 month full-time Masters courses are eligible for this award. Those starting in January or lasting longer than 12 months are not eligible. Chevening Scholarships are available for students from all nationalities except those from the EU or USA. Chevening Scholars also benefit from a year-long programme of events helping you experience the best of British culture and to make the most of your time in the UK.

Queen Mary Alumni Loyalty Award

Student requirements

Who is eligible? The Alumni Loyalty Award is open to all Queen Mary graduates enrolling on a full postgraduate degree programme who are self-funding at least part of their tuition fees. Queen Mary graduates are defined as anyone who has undertaken an postgraduate degree or exchange programme (for at least one semester) at Queen Mary University of London. Postgraduate degree programmes are defined as any full-time, part-time or distance learning Master’s or Doctorate degree programme offered at QMUL. Joint-awards, split-site degrees and courses less than 12 months in length are not eligible. This Award can be combined with other Queen Mary scholarships but will not be awarded to fully sponsored students. Students who are partly sponsored will have the discount applied to that part of the fees which are not being paid for elsewhere. This award will be made available for PhD students from September entry onward and is for the first year only. This award is available to students receiving the US Federal Loan as they are recorded as self-payers with payment plans. Students who are fully sponsored are not eligible for this Award. Full sponsorship means tuition fees are paid in full by an employer, industrial sponsor, government, charity or other third party organisation. This Award is intended to help students who are self-financing some or all of their postgraduate studies. Students who have not completed a full QMUL degree, or a full semester on a study-abroad scheme are ineligible. Pre-sessional English courses, Foundation programmes, PG Diplomas and pre-Masters courses do not qualify you as a Queen Mary graduate in respect of this award.

Queen Mary Global Excellence Scholarships (PG)

Student requirements

Eligibility criteria You must have achieved a UK First Class Bachelor’s degree or an overseas equivalent. You must be eligible to pay overseas tuition fees. This scheme is available only to students who apply for and enrol in a course taught in the Faculty of Science and Engineering in the 2019/20 academic year. You must not be in receipt of any other University scholarship or full-fee scholarship from any other source. If you are awarded the £3,000 scholarship it will be deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the University. You must be able to finance the remainder of your tuition fees and living expenses. Students who take an industrial placement year as part of a two year MSc will not receive a scholarship during this year in industry. Those enrolling on part-time programmes will receive 50% of the award in year 1 and 50% in year 2. Ineligible and joint programmes The following courses are taught jointly with Schools outside of the Science and Engineering faculty are not eligible for the award: MSc Mathematical Finance MSc Business Analytics (see funding for this programme in The School of Business and Management) The following course is taught jointly with the Medical School and is eligible for the award: MSc Regenerative Medicine All of our full time, 12-month Master’s programmes are eligible for the Chevening Awards. We recommend that international students also apply for this funding. All overseas fee-paying students (i.e. non-UK/EU) are eligible.
