Associate Alumni Bursary

Eligibility criteria: Must have studied on an Associate Student Programme since September 2015; The scholarship is available for students applying for programmes running until September 2023; Must have successfully completed their semester or year abroad at Queen Mary; Must enrol on a postgraduate taught programme in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Available for all academic schools within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; The bursary will be automatically awarded to all associate alumni (Study Abroad, Erasmus+, International Exchange Programme students) who are enrolled on a postgraduate taught degree programme at Queen Mary and meet the eligibility criteria.

Queen Mary Alumni Loyalty Award

Who is eligible?: The Alumni Loyalty Award is open to all Queen Mary graduates enrolling on a full postgraduate degree programme who are self-funding at least part of their tuition fees; Queen Mary graduates are defined as anyone who has undertaken an undergraduate degree, postgraduate degree at Queen Mary University of London; Postgraduate degree programmes are defined as any full-time, part-time or distance learning Master’s or Doctorate degree programme offered at QMUL. Queen Mary Online programmes, joint-awards, split-site degrees and courses less than 12 months in length are not eligible. Queen Mary Online students are eligible for a 10 per cent Alumni Scholarship Loyalty Award; This Award can be combined with other Queen Mary scholarships but will not be awarded to fully sponsored students. Students who are partly sponsored will have the discount applied to that part of the fees which are not being paid for elsewhere; This award for PhD students is for the first year only; This award is available to students receiving the US Federal Loan as they are recorded as self-payers with payment plans. Eligible courses: Postgraduate awards: Master of Arts (MA); Master of Laws (LLM); Master of Science (MSc); Master of Public Administration (MPA); Master of Research (MRes); Master of Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent); Doctor of Medicine (MD); Doctor of Philosophy (PhD); Who is ineligible?: Students who are fully sponsored are not eligible for this Award. Full sponsorship means tuition fees are paid in full by an employer, industrial sponsor, government, charity or other third party organisation. This Award is intended to help students who are self-financing some or all of their postgraduate studies; Pre-sessional English courses, Foundation programmes, PG Diplomas, pre-Masters, and Postgraduate Certificate courses do not qualify you as a Queen Mary graduate in respect of this award; For part-time courses, you will be eligible for the full award, but this will be split over the two years (i.e. 50% of the award in the first year and 50% in the second year); The Alumni Loyalty Award will not require repaying if the student leaves part way through their studies; it will be assessed pro-rata, to coincide with the procedure for calculating outstanding tuition fees; This Award can only be used towards tuition fees and will never be paid directly to the student.

Children of Alumni Award

The Children of Alumni Loyalty Award is those enrolling on a full Master's or Doctoral degree programme who are self-funding at least £1000 of their tuition fees; The Children of Alumni Loyalty Award gives £1000 of year-1 overseas fees for children of international alumni. To be eligible you must: be enrolling on a full Master's or Doctoral degree; be the child of a Queen Mary alumnus; be paying at least £1000 of your fees (i.e. not full sponsored); be an overseas fee payer (i.e. not paying the cheaper "Home Fee" rate).

Queen Mary Global Excellence Scholarships (PG)

Student requirements

The Queen Mary Global Excellence Scholarships are for students entering with a UK first class degree (or international equivalent) in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. This is intended to attract the most talented students from around the world to study with us. All overseas fee-paying students (i.e. non-UK/EU) are eligible. Eligibility criteria: You must have achieved a UK First Class Bachelor’s degree or an overseas equivalent degree; You must be eligible to pay overseas tuition fees; This scheme is available only to students who apply for and enrol in a course taught in the Faculty of Science and Engineering in the 2020/21 academic year; You must not be in receipt of any other University scholarship or full-fee scholarship from any other source; If you are awarded the £2,000 scholarship it will be deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the University. You must be able to finance the remainder of your tuition fees and living expenses; Students who take an industrial placement year as part of a two year MSc will not receive a scholarship during this year in industry; Those enrolling on part-time programmes will receive 50% of the award in year 1 and 50% in year 2; Ineligible and joint programmes; The following courses are taught jointly with Schools outside of the Science and Engineering faculty are not eligible for the award: MSc Mathematical Finance; MSc Business Analytics (see funding for this programme in The School of Business and Management); MSc Plant and Fungal Taxonomy, Diversity and Conservation; The following course is taught jointly with the Medical School and is eligible for the award: MSc Regenerative Medicine; The following programmes are not eligible for the award: MSc Artificial Intelligence; MSc Big Data Science; MSc Data Analytics.
