There are 27 scholarships available at Queensland University of Technology (QUT).

QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic)

Study level

Undergraduate

Eligibility requirements

You must:

  • be graduating Year 12 in 2019 or have graduated Year 12 in 2018
  • have an OP 1 or 2 (or equivalent) excluding OP and selection rank adjustments
  • be starting university for the first time in 2020

You must also be one of:

  • an international student who has completed high school in Australia or an Australian curriculum overseas.

To keep your scholarship, you must:

  • remain enrolled full-time
  • maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or higher in each semester.

You can:

  • take a leave of absence for up to 12 months but only after you have completed one semester of study. You won't receive scholarship payments during this time.

You can't:

  • defer your scholarship offer. If you defer your course, you can reapply for a QUT Excellence Scholarship the following year, provided that you haven't undertaken university study in the meantime
  • hold any other scholarship, except an Equity Scholarship. If you have any questions about holding other scholarships, contact our Scholarships Coordinator.

Value details

You will receive one of: 90 scholarships worth AUD $30,000 each. The scholarship will be paid as a stipend of AUD $3,750 after the HECS-HELP census date of each semester for the standard duration of your course, for up to four years (AUD $7,500 per year). 15 scholarships worth AUD $10,000 each. The scholarship will be paid as a study stipend of AUD $2,500 after the HECS-HELP census date of each semester for the first four semesters of your course.

Clayton Adam Florence Wilson Award for Biomechanics and Spine Research

China Scholarship Council Scholarship

Study level

Eligibility requirements

You must:

  • meet the China Scholarship Council requirements, as outlined on the China Scholarship Council website (in Mandarin)
  • apply for and be admitted to a PhD, research masters or professional doctorate at QUT
  • meet the English language requirements for the scholarship:
  1. IELTS overall score of 6.5, with no subscore below 6
  2. TOEFL overall score of 90, with no subscore below 20

meet the academic requirements for the scholarship:

  • for masters courses: a completed bachelor degree with first class or upper-second-class (2A) honours or equivalent
  • for PhDs: a completed masters degree.

Application details

Apply for your research degree. When you complete the application form, you can indicate that you want to be considered for a China Scholarship Council scholarship.

Please refer to the CSC website above as the closing dates for the CSC scholarships vary each year (usually between late March to mid April).

Value details

A tuition fee waiver for the duration of your course, which is normally one year for masters students and three years for doctoral students. You'll receive from the China Scholarship Council: funding for living allowances, one return airfare, funding for visa applications, health insurance. You will also receive a QUT/CSC Top- Up Scholarship which provides an annual stipend of approximately AUD $7,000 for QUT/CSC PhD scholarship recipient for up to 3 years.

Brown Group Biomedical Engineering and Materials Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

You must apply for and be admitted to our Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Your research proposal much be innovative and high impact.

We'll accept applications from candidates from any academic background, provided you meet the eligibility requirements for the PhD.

You may then apply through a formal assessment process, based on interviews, written work and references.

Data61 PhD Scholarship

Study level

Eligibility requirements

Data61 PhD Scholarship and Data61 Top-up Scholarship are open to international students.

You must have already applied for, or have already started a PhD research program at QUT.

You'll receive: a full stipend set at a rate equivalent to the Research Training Program base rate ( AUD $27,596 in 2019). The top-up scholarship is valued up to AUD $15,000 per year.

Creative Industries International Scholarship

  • be enrolled to study full-time.

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you hold another scholarship.

Application details

You must apply for and receive an offer for a Bachelor of Business (Honours) (Accountancy) before you can apply for a scholarship: Complete the application form; submit your completed application form using the contact details on the form. We might request that you meet additional eligibility criteria. This scholarship is offered annually, with a closing date of 31 January each year.

Value details

You'll receive: a scholarship of AUD $10,000 for one year, paid in two instalments over two semesters.

CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

You must:

  • be a doctoral student who has gain or expect to gain first class honours or equivalent in the relevant research areas (technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)
  • be a doctoral student who gain or expect to gain a research training program scholarship (RTP) or equivalent university award.

Application details

Applications are being sought in nominated priority research areas for the 2019 program and will support a number of PhD Scholarships.

Value details

A top-up scholarship (for periods up to three years) and are available to doctoral students who gain or expect to gain a research training program scholarship (RTP) or equivalent university award; in some circumstances, CSIRO fully funded scholarships may also be available (for periods up to four years).

Faculty of Education International Student Scholarship

MBA and EMBA Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

MBA scholarships

You must:

  • be applying to study with our Graduate School of Business for the first time
  • apply for and be accepted into our Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Conditions

You must:

  • maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 5.5 or above throughout your studies
  • get approval if you're deferring your studies for more than one teaching period.

The tuition fee waiver:

  • is for the time limit of your course completion. Any leave of absence or other approved leave that you take will be included in calculating time limits
  • does not apply to units that you might take outside the MBA or EMBA program
  • does not apply to units that you fail or withdraw from with financial penalty.

We will terminate your scholarship if you:

  • don't fulfil course requirements or maintain satisfactory course progress
  • don't resume studying after deferring for one year
  • transfer to another program at QUT.

Application details

MBA tuition fee waiver scholarship

To apply for an MBA tuition fee waiver scholarship, you must complete the MBA scholarship application form, and submit it with your application for the MBA.

You will need to include a personal statement of no more than 1,000 words about your capabilities and skills in the areas listed on the form to support your application.

Merit scholarships

To apply for the merit scholarships, you don't need to submit a separate scholarship application. We'll assess your eligibility based on your application for the MBA or EMBA.

Value details

You'll receive one of: a tuition fee waiver scholarship, covering a quarter, half or all of your tuition fees a merit scholarship, awarded at: AUD $500 for a GMAT score of 600-699; AUD $1,000 for a GMAT score of 700 or more. If you receive a tuition fee waiver scholarship, you won't be eligible for a merit scholarship.

QUT Excellence Scholarship (Elite Visual and Performing Arts)

Eligibility requirements

You must be one of:

  • an international student who has completed high school in Australia or an Australian curriculum overseas

This scholarship is available for students who are applying for courses that have additional entry requirements like an audition or portfolio. You must be applying for admission into one of these courses for the first time:

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance Performance)
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts)
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting)
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music).

If you're interested in a Creative Industries course that isn't eligible for this scholarship, you may be eligible for the QUT Excellence Scholarship (Creative Industries) or the QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic) instead.

You must:

  • remain enrolled full-time
  • maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 5 or above in each semester.

You can:

take a leave of absence for up to 12 months (in accordance with our student rules), but only after you have completed one full-time semester of study. You won't receive scholarship payments during a leave of absence.

You can't:

  • defer your scholarship offer. If you defer your course, you can re-apply for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship the next year, provided that you haven't undertaken university study in the meantime
  • hold any other scholarship, except an Equity Scholarship. If you have any questions about holding other scholarships, contact our Scholarships Coordinator.

Equity Scholarships Scheme

Eligibility requirements

You must be:

  • from a low-income background
  • experiencing financial hardship.

We also take personal hardship into consideration when assessing applications. This includes:

  • personal medical conditions
  • disabilities
  • dependants with special needs.

Semester 1: an Equity Bursary of up to AUD $1,500 for one year; an Equity computer (a reconditioned desktop computer with the capacity to access internet, and a USB drive). Semester 2: an Equity Bursary of up to AUD $1,500 for one semester; a Faculty Equity Bursary of AUD $1,500 for one semester.

PhD Scholarship in Automated Realignment of Bone Fragments - “Solving the Fracture Puzzle”

You must:

  • meet the English language proficiency requirements
  • apply for and be accepted into a PhD
  • not have previously completed a PhD or it's equivalent
  • hold a relevant degree (e.g., informatics, computer graphics or related branches)
  • have strong mathematical and programming skills (essential)
  • experience in computer graphical modelling (desirable)
  • demonstrable oral and written communication skills in English
  • be able to study full time.

QUT International College Pathway Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

These scholarships are available for prospective students from China, Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Each country has a different eligibility criteria, and only some countries are eligible for both, Foundation and Diploma scholarships. 

You must:

  1. have not completed your previous academic qualification (e.g. high school) in Australia
  2. meet all of the course entry requirements and have received a QUT pathway offer letter for one of the following courses:
  • Diploma in Creative Industries
  • Diploma in Health Science

Dynamic Soft Matter Materials PhD Scholarship
