John Wright Academic Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must show strong academic records and English language skills equivalent to IELTS 7.0. Minimum academic requirements: Students from India must have Year 12 or equivalent: Average of at least 70 per cent marks across 4 academic subjects (excluding any local language); and Bachelor degree holders: overall first division. Sri Lanka students must hold G.C.E 'O' Level: minimum C Grade pass in four subjects; G.C.E 'Advance' Level: minimum C Grade pass in three subjects; and Bachelor degree holders: overall first division. Nepal students must hold Year 12 or equivalent: Average of at least 70 per cent marks across 4 academic subjects (excluding any local language); and Bachelor degree holders: overall first division. Students can apply for a John Wright Scholarship in any SIT programme which is Level 7 or above and is for one year or longer. That includes SIT's Postgraduate Diploma, Bachelor Degrees and Graduate Diplomas. Students can also apply for a John Wright Scholarship in any other undergraduate programme provided that the programme is at least two years in duration.

Value details

John Wright Sports Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Premier sports scholarships are offered to students who exhibit sporting excellence. On arrival at SIT, scholarship recipients play in local and regional sporting teams during the playing season. Codes can include cricket, basketball, rugby, netball, soccer, badminton and others. Students can apply for a John Wright Scholarship in any SIT programme which is Level 7 or above and is for one year or longer. That includes SIT's Postgraduate Diploma, Bachelor Degrees and Graduate Diplomas. Students can also apply for a John Wright Scholarship in any other undergraduate programme provided that the programme is at least two years in duration. At least one full scholarship will be offered each year.

Value details

The full scholarship covers the recipient’s first year tuition fee. The partial scholarship will be an amount equivalent to 20 per cent of a student’s first year tuition fee

Zerofees English (ZFE) Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Zerofees English Scholarships help students improve their academic English language skills, assisting them to gain the English language entry requirements to move to a mainstream programme of their choice. This scholarship is available in Far East Asia, South America and certain European countries. 

The Southern Institute of Technology is building on our ground-breaking English Language programme by offering unique scholarships that make quality education even more affordable.

You can gain a 26 Week English Scholarship when you enrol in a one year or longer mainstream programme with SIT.  That means you can study English for up to 26 weeks at no additional tuition cost.

Students are eligible for the 26 Week English Scholarship when they enrol in a mainstream programme (a certificate, diploma, degree, graduate diploma or postgraduate diploma programme) of one year or longer full-time duration (“a mainstream programme”).

Students intending to undertake the 26 Week English Scholarship must provide an upfront payment of NZ $9,000 for the introductory English language programme.  If students meet the English entry requirements and are accepted into a mainstream programme of at least one year full-time duration, the upfront payment will be credited against the tuition fees for that mainstream programme. Students are required to pay the remaining tuition fee balance and any applicable resource fee for the mainstream programme.

Zerofees Foundation (ZFF) Scholarships
