This award is available to matriculated international undergraduate and graduate students attending SUNY Cortland. It provides financial support to ease tuition costs and no application is required.

To receive a grant, a student must:

  • be admitted to SUNY Cortland as a degree-seeking international undergraduate or graduate student
  • not participate in a graduate assistantship (graduate assistants are not eligible for this award

Undergraduate Award Amounts (2017-18): Matriculated, full-time international undergraduate students will receive USD $2,600 per semester (up to USD $5,200 per academic year). This amount will increase to USD $3,000 per semester (USD $6,000 per academic year) in 2018-19. Graduate Award Amounts (2017-18): Matriculated international graduate students will receive USD $2,600 per semester for full-time enrollment (12 credit hours per semester). Students enrolled in less than 12 credits hours will receive a pro-rated amount: 12 credit hours: USD $2,600; 9 credit hours: USD $1,950; 6 credit hours: USD $1,300; 3 credit hours: USD $650.

SUNY Cortland Future New Yorker Grant

This unique award is available for non-New York state residents who do not qualify for in-state tuition. 

To receive this award, students must:

  • be admitted to SUNY Cortland as a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student
  • be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
  • be a non-New York state resident who does not qualify for in-state tuition
  • not participate in a graduate assistantship
  • remain in good academic standing

To automatically renew their award, students must:

  • maintain full-time enrollment
  • be a non-New York state resident who does not qualify for in-state tuition
  • earn a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average
  • be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
  • not participate in a graduate assistantship
  • maintain satisfactory academic progress per the College’s published Federal Good Academic Standing guidelines

Application details

No application is required and eligibility is based on a student’s academic record at the time of admission.

SUNY Cortland Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

The SUNY Cortland Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship was established to recognize outstanding students transferring into SUNY Cortland who have been inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. 

To earn this scholarship, students must:

  • be a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society for transfer students
  • enroll at SUNY Cortland with junior-level status
  • demonstrate high academic achievement (minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA)
  • notify the College’s Admissions Office of their membership in Phi Theta Kappa

To renew this scholarship, students must: 

  • maintain full-time enrollment
  • remain matriculated at SUNY Cortland
  • earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher
  • maintain satisfactory academic progress per the College’s published Federal Good Academic Standing guidelines
  • this scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four academic years (eight academic semesters excluding summer semesters). The actual number of terms is based on class level (freshman, sophomore, etc.) at the time of the initial award.
