School of Law: Inspiring Futures Scholarships

The School of Law at Swansea University takes pride in offering an exceptional student experience and a progressive curriculum. It is our ambition to deliver education and research that equips our students with the skills and experiences necessary to understand and confront societal challenges. In support of this ambition, the School is pleased to offer “Inspiring Futures” scholarships, worth £3,000 each, for students who have accepted a place to study on one of our full-time taught Master's programmes. In addition to the financial contribution, scholarship recipients will benefit from opportunities to gain career- enhancing skills. Recipients will be encouraged to: Work with the School’s marketing team to help promote the scholarships and School; Join one of the student societies linked to the School, or to become a course representative for their degree programme; Contribute to the development and running of the School’s Graduate Centre. The skills, experiences, and confidence you will gain by taking part in these activities will help you stand out from your peers and strengthen your CV. To apply for one of these scholarships, you must be in receipt of an offer to study on an eligible, full-time, master’s programme (excludes LPC and GDL courses) at the School of Law, starting in 2021/22. We will take into consideration your: Academic competence; Financial need; Enthusiasm and future plans and Ability and plans to contribute back to the School of Law and to Swansea University. Eligible master’s programmes: LLM in Human Rights; LLM Intellectual Property & Commercial Practice LLM in International Commercial Law; LLM in International Commercial and Maritime Law LLM in International Maritime Law; LLM in International Trade Law; LLM in Legal Practice and Advanced Drafting LLM in LegalTech; LLM in Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy Law MA in Applied Criminal Justice and Criminology; MA in Cyber Crime and Terrorism; Scholarships will be deducted from tuition fees and cannot be transferred to another intake if you defer entry. Applications from students of any nationality are welcome.

International Excellence Scholarships

Each year we have a number of International Excellence Scholarships available for students who have already demonstrated academic excellence or show potential to do so during their time at Swansea University. Scholarships are awarded as a discount off tuition fees for postgraduate taught courses and MRes programmes.

International Postgraduate Alumni Bursaries

Student requirements

The scheme is open to all Non-EU Swansea Alumni candidates applying for a Taught Master’s or Research degree in any subject area. The definition of ‘alumni’ is candidates who have successfully completed a ‘full’ degree programme at Swansea University for example: students who have qualified with a Bachelor degree applying for a postgraduate Taught or Research programme or a Taught Masters’ student applying for Research programme. The following candidates are NOT eligible for an Alumni Bursary: Exchange students; Visiting/Associate students (including English Language students); The College, Swansea University Foundation/Pre-Master’s Programme students; CELTA students, GDL and LPC students; Students qualifying with an ‘exit’ qualification; Students upgrading from MPhil to PhD. Eligibility: Non-EU Alumni only will be eligible; The Non-EU Alumni Bursary is only available to students who have met the minimum academic requirement for an award (see above table for details); Alumni Bursaries are available for both full and part-time study. For students studying part-time, the award will be made on a pro-rata basis; Students must have satisfactorily completed the original degree programme that they were admitted to at Swansea University (excludes ‘fall-back’ qualifications). Students with First Class will receive £5,000 per year; Second Class, First division will receive £3,000 per year; Second Class, Second division will receive £1,000 per year. Students in receipt of a part-scholarship (up to 50% of full tuition fee) may be considered for an alumni award.
