There are 10 scholarships available at TAFE NSW.

Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Nurse) Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

All applicants will be required to:

  • undergo a National Police History Check
  • provide two written references
  • meet English language skill requirements
  • provide evidence of HSC completion (or equivalent) or a Certificate III qualification (or equivalent).

Application details

Successful applicants will be

  • provided with a place in the Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Nurse) program to commence at multiple locations across NSW from March 2017.
  • required to pay the student fee component of the Diploma up-front. You may be able to access VET FEE-HELP to cover this cost.

The duration of the program is between 12 and 18 months.

Selection for a scholarship is a competitive process which includes a written application, literacy and numeracy assessment, and an interview.

Smart and Skilled Fee-Free Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Fee-Free Scholarship is designed for:

  • young people (15-30) who are eligible for concession fees
  • young people who are or have been in out-of-home care
  • people of any age who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence.

Fee-Free Scholarship Eligibility

Students are eligible for one scholarship per financial year and up to two scholarships over the four year period (see diagram). A person who is eligible for these scholarships:

  • meets Smart and Skilled eligibility rules
  • is aged 15 - 30 years at the time training commences
  • is concession-fee eligible (receives a Commonwealth Government payment/allowance or holds a pensioner concession card issued by Cent relink OR is a dependent of someone receiving a Commonwealth Government payment or holding a concession card) and/or is a social housing client (this includes public housing, community housing, Aboriginal housing, Crisis accommodation/supported accommodating, and private rental assistance managed by Housing NSW).
  • is a person of any age who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence.
  • is enrolling in a Certificate I to Certificate IV qualification which is on the NSW Skills List (including Apprenticeships and Trainees)

Fee-free training for Young People in out-of-home care

Young people aged 15-17 years currently in out-of-home care, and people aged 18-30 years who have previously been in out-of-home care, are now eligible for fee-free vocational training under Smart and Skilled.

You are eligible if you meet the fee-free scholarship eligibility and the out-of-home care criteria below:

  • be aged 15-17 years and currently in out-of-home care or
  • be aged 18-30 years and have previously been in out-of-home care.

To be eligible you must:

  • meet the Smart and Skilled personal eligibility criteria.
  • enrol in a Smart and Skilled qualification that is listed as eligible for a Jobs of Tomorrow Scholarship.
  • commence training on or after 1 January 2017

Application details

Once you have enrolled in an eligible qualification and have received a Notification of Enrolment document from TAFE SWSi, which confirms your enrolment, you can apply for a scholarship through Service NSW.
