No application is required. You will be automatically considered for this award for Semester 1 entry if you applied for your course by 30 October; or for Semester 2 entry if you apply by 31 March.

Value details

25 or 50% fee remission for the duration of the course (up to 3 years). Bursaries offer a single payment of AUD $5,000

Asian Development Bank - Japan Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • have received an unconditional offer of place for an eligible course by 31 October for commencement in the following year.
  • be a citizen of the Asia Development Bank's developing member countries
  • have at least two years full-time professional work experience;
  • be aged 35 years or under at the time of assessment;
  • not have already completed a master degree or previously studies overseas; and
  • be living and working in your home country

Eligible courses are:

  • Master of International Business
  • Master of Economics
  • Master of Business Administration
  • Master of Engineering
  • Master of Public Health
  • Master of Agribusiness
  • Master of Agricultural Science
  • Master of Forest Ecosystem Science

If you have applied for a course that is not listed, you cannot be considered for the Asian Development Bank - Japan Scholarship.

Selection criteria

Eligible students are shortlisted by the University and selected by the Asian Development Bank on the basis of academic merit and the personal attributes of the applicants.

You must first submit an application for admission. You will need to pay an application fee of AUD $100.

After you have submitted an application for admission, you must submit an online application for the Asian Development Bank - Japan Scholarship by 31 October. No additional scholarship application fee is required.

Dean’s PhD International Scholarship Awards

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • have applied for and meet the entry requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts
  • be a new applicant (current graduate researchers are not eligible)
  • be an international student
  • have secured a Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarship or an external scholarship or sponsorship

Selection criteria

  • early career academic staff employed in universities with which the Faculty has partnerships, particularly in China, India and Indonesia, or
  • applicants whose research aligns with strategic priorities identified by Schools, such as building on the international dimensions of existing research strengths.

Integrating Urban Management with Disaster Risk Reduction

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • have enrolled or intend to enrol in a graduate research degree at the Melbourne School of Design
  • been awarded at least one of the following:
  1. a Masters by Research degree
  2. a Master by Coursework degree (with a research component that accounts for at least 25% of a year's work at 4th year or at Masters level)
  3. a four-year Honours degree
  • have achieved an overall H1 (80-100%) or H2A (75-79%) equivalent to grades received at an Australian university, in the relevant honours or Masters degree
  • have completed a degree in an area that is relevant to the intended PhD, including sufficient specialisation that you have already developed an understanding and appreciation of a body of knowledge relevant to your intended PhD
  • have completed a research project/component that accounts for at least 25% of their year's work at 4th year or at Masters level
  • satisfy the University's English Language Requirements.

The successful candidate will address one or more elements complementary to the BNH CRC Project: Urban Planning for Natural Hazard Mitigation.

Projects relevant to the overarching BNHCRC project above may include one or more of the following suggested themes:

  • Urban management and politics
  • Resilience of the built environment
  • Improved emergency management
  • Community Resilience
  • Analytical studies of Disasters
  • Particular hazards or hazard “types”
  • Comparative studies and international exemplars
  • Links between Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Ecological Sustainability

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

either

  1. have applied for and meet the entry requirements for a Master or Doctorate by research degree at the University of Melbourne, or
  2. be currently enrolled in a research degree at the University of Melbourne and have at least 12 months (full-time equivalent) of candidature remaining,
  • intend to undertake graduate research in the human rights field and be committed to the peaceful advancement of respect for human rights that extends beyond academic studies (such as voluntary work and/or work experience);
  • have not already completed a research qualification at the same or higher level as the course for which a scholarship is sought
  • intend to study as a full-time student unless there are compassionate or compelling circumstances that prevent you from undertaking full-time study
  • not have previously received a Human Rights Scholarship

Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of the area of study in and level of commitment to human rights, academic merit and strength of supporting documentation.
