Global Graduate Merit Scholarship

Melbourne Chancellors Scholarship (International Students)

Study level

Undergraduate

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • be a citizen of a country other than Australia
  • have completed Australian Year Twelve or International Baccalaureate in Australia
  • have applied for a University of Melbourne undergraduate course via VTAC for commencement in the year following completion of Australian Year Twelve or International Baccalaureate
  • not have previously undertaken any tertiary studies (excluding extension studies completed as part of a Year 12 program).

Selection criteria

The Melbourne Chancellor's Scholarship is awarded on the basis of merit and guaranteed to all students who satisfy the undergraduate course prerequisites and:

  • achieved an ATAR of at least 99.90, or
  • intend to undertake the Bachelor of Music and achieved an ATAR of at least 99.85 and achieved an audition score of A+ , or
  • are of Indigenous Australian descent and achieved an ATAR of at least 90

Integrating Urban Management with Disaster Risk Reduction

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • have enrolled or intend to enrol in a graduate research degree at the Melbourne School of Design
  • been awarded at least one of the following:
  1. a Masters by Research degree
  2. a Master by Coursework degree (with a research component that accounts for at least 25% of a year's work at 4th year or at Masters level)
  3. a four-year Honours degree
  • have achieved an overall H1 (80-100%) or H2A (75-79%) equivalent to grades received at an Australian university, in the relevant honours or Masters degree
  • have completed a degree in an area that is relevant to the intended PhD, including sufficient specialisation that you have already developed an understanding and appreciation of a body of knowledge relevant to your intended PhD
  • have completed a research project/component that accounts for at least 25% of their year's work at 4th year or at Masters level
  • satisfy the University's English Language Requirements.

The successful candidate will address one or more elements complementary to the BNH CRC Project: Urban Planning for Natural Hazard Mitigation.

Projects relevant to the overarching BNHCRC project above may include one or more of the following suggested themes:

  • Urban management and politics
  • Resilience of the built environment
  • Improved emergency management
  • Community Resilience
  • Analytical studies of Disasters
  • Particular hazards or hazard “types”
  • Comparative studies and international exemplars
  • Links between Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Ecological Sustainability

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • be enrolled in an Honours, Graduate coursework or Graduate research program in the Faculty of Arts
  • be in financial need

Selection criteria

Eligible applicants will be assessed by a selection committee, with scholarships awarded to the student most disadvantaged in their academic work by financial need.

Eligible applicants must complete:

  • The University of Melbourne Financial Aid Assessment and attach evidence of submission to this scholarship application. If you have previously completed a financial aid application this will appear when you log in. You must update your details and resubmit the application.
  • The online application form. This requires a 300-500 word statement outlining how the scholarship would impact your life and assist with your studies. You are also required to attach your current academic transcript or statement of results.

Elizabeth and Nicholas Slezak Scholarship

Study level

Postgraduate

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • be female-identifying
  • have previously graduated from a University of Melbourne course. This includes Undergraduate and Graduate degree programs, but could also include a Diploma or Advanced Diploma. It does not include intensives or short courses.
  • be enrolled in a Masters or PhD studying French language or literature
  • require support to travel to and research in France

or

  • be a current honours students doing short programs in France on terms breaks (to advance French language skills)

The scholarship is not restricted to students in the Faculty of Arts. For example, it would be acceptable for a graduate Music student to receive a scholarship to study French in France (in a short course) to assist them with their study of French opera.

Applicants should normally be confirmed (completed first year of PhD), and are encouraged to enrol in a cotutelle, but may take courses at a French university or equivalent institution, or undertake research in French libraries, archives or fieldwork.

Selection criteria

Graduate Research Scholarships that provide a stipend as well as fee offset are awarded to international students based on academic merit. Eligible applicants are scored and ranked according to their academic achievement of their last completed degree and their research potential in their field of study. Factors such as completion of a degree at the same level of the research course for which the scholarship is sought, relevant professional experience, refereed publications, specialist medical qualifications or composition of original music may be taken into consideration.
