School of Business Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Trinity Business School provides numerous scholarships to students from across the world in our commitment to develop outstanding global business leaders. Previous recipients come from a variety of countries and educational backgrounds but all displayed strong academic and personal achievements. 

These are awarded by the Trinity Business School Scholarship committee to candidates who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, extracurricular accomplishments or contribution to society. 

Application details

Scholarship applications must be made when submitting your application for a place on the programme. Download and complete the scholarship application form and submit as part of your application. 

The Trinity Business School Scholarship Selection Committee meets twice a year to assess applications. If you have been accepted onto your programme of choice, applicants will be notified when a scholarship decision has been made. Please note: no scholarships are awarded earlier than February 2017. 

Applicants wishing to take advantage of the scholarship scheme are encouraged to submit their application early to ensure consideration.

Postgraduate Research Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Postgraduate studentships are available to new entrants as well as continuing students on the full-time PhD register. The studentships are awarded competitively on academic merit.

Ussher Fellowship

Eligibility requirements

Ussher Fellowships are awarded competitively on academic merit. The Fellowship is unrelated to teaching commitments.

Hamilton Scholars

Eligibility requirements

The Hamilton Scholars aims to produce a cohort of exceptional PhD students whose work is expected to have a significant international impact in their chosen area of specialisation.

The Hamilton Scholars focuses on fields where Trinity plays a leading role internationally such as Algebra and Number Theory, Analysis, Partial Differential Equations, Quantum Field Theory, Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics and String Theory. Scholarships will be awarded to PhD students of outstanding talent, from Ireland and internationally, who will be selected to study a key research theme within the disciplines of mathematics and theoretical physics.

Each Hamilton Scholar will receive individual research supervision with an internationally-renowned mathematician or theoretical physicist. The programme will also provide an exciting opportunity for the individual scholars to gain invaluable research and teaching experience, preparing them to take their place as academic leaders of the future.

Sport Scholarships

Every year sports scholarships are awarded to students of national and international standard who come to study and compete for Trinity.

Masters Scholarships in School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies

Eligibility requirements

The School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures offers two Faculty Masters scholarships to Non-EU eligible graduate applicants who wish to study at TCD and pursue a full-time Masters degree in one of the School’s Postgraduate Programmes in the academic year 2017-2018. A Masters programme in SLLCS is a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and skills through postgraduate studies in specific subject areas that will equip students with advanced intercultural competencies necessary for negotiating an increasingly interconnected world. The School of Languages. Literatures and Cultural Studies offers the following Masters Programmes: MPhil in Comparative Literature; MPhil in Early Irish MPhil in European Studies; MPhil in Literary Translation; MPhil in Medieval Language, Literature and Culture; MPhil in Textual and Visual Studies.

Go Overseas Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

The scholarship will be awarded to students taking part in Study Abroad in Trinity, on a fee paying basis, for Michaelmas Term 2017, Hilary Term 2018 and Michaelmas Term 2018with a minimum GPA of 3.3, who have made a scholarship application to Go Overseas.

Application details

In order to apply for the scholarship, students must submit their application to Go Overseas with a 300 word essay explaining why they would like to study in Ireland and a photo with an Irish theme, selecting Trinity College Dublin as one of their college choices.

Students must also apply to study at Trinity College Dublin, supplying the required information as part of our admissions process.

Value details

The scholarship covers the cost of tuition for a semester and will be applied in the form of a tuition waiver for Study Abroad

Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Masters Studentship

Eligibility requirements

This studentship is available to new entrants (EU and Non-EU) to any of our four LL.M degrees, for admission in September. In order to be eligible, applicants must hold and have officially accepted an Unconditional Offer of a place on one of these programmes.

Selection Criteria

Applications are assessed competitively with the sole criteria for the grant of the studentship being the proven academic merit of the candidate. It is accepted, however, that very many candidates with exceptional qualifications apply annually to the programme. Thus the decision as to the recipient of the studentship (which is made at School level) is at the exclusive discretion of the LL.M Course Director and LL.M Sub-Committee.

As only one studentship will be available in , LL.M applicants are strongly advised to apply for all other funding and grants open to them. LL.M applicants are expected to apply for the renewal of any Local Authority Scholarship they may have held as undergraduates.

The value of the studentship is a €5,000 contribution towards LL.M tuition fees (EU or Non-EU) in academic year 2016/17.

India Undergraduate Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

 a) Applicants must be normally resident in and have completed their high school education in India. 

b) Applicants must have non-EU status and pay tuition fees at the non-EU rate. 

c) Applicants must receive an offer of a place in a Trinity undergraduate course.

d) Applicants must have achieved a minimum:

International Baccalaureate score of 36
A level score of AAB or similar
India Grade XII score of 90% overall

Selection Criteria: The scholarship will be assessed based on academic achievement

  • You must complete and submit (by paying €55 application fee) an application for a Trinity undergraduate course prior to applying for a scholarship.
  • To be eligible to receive a scholarship, you must receive an offer of a place in a Trinity undergraduate course.

Irish Research Council Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

The Irish Research Council (IRC) funds research towards Masters and Doctoral degrees in all research areas.

Global Study Abroad Excellence Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must apply to study at Trinity for at least one semester as fee-paying students. Successful applicants will enrol in modules with a total credit bearing of at least 25 ECTS per term during their study abroad at Trinity. This scholarship is intended for students coming for semester long or full year Study Abroad. Students studying on exchange will not be eligible to apply.

Hyman Tarlo Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Applications are assessed competitively with the sole criteria for the granting of the scholarship being the proven academic merit of the candidate. The decision as to the recipient of the scholarship (which is made at school level) is at the exclusive discretion of the School of Law in Trinity College Dublin.

Value details

The Scholarship covers full LL.M non-EU tuition fees in academic year, payable directly by the Law School to Student Finance, and a stipend of AUS$10,000.

Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme

Eligibility requirements

The Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme aims to support local students to pursue studies in world renowned universities outside Hong Kong, with a view to grooming a top cadre of talents with global vision, international network and world-class education, thereby contributing to enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness as Asia’s World City in a globalised knowledge economy. The scheme also seeks to support those students who have excellent academic achievement but lack the financial means to study in top-notch universities outside Hong Kong.

All awardees will receive a non-means-tested scholarship to cover their tuition fees, subject to a ceiling of HK$250,000 per annum, whichever is lower. In addition, a means-tested bursary will be granted to students who may need additional support to pursue their study, subject to a ceiling of HK$200,000 per student per annum. The means-tested bursary will consist of two components, up to HK$50,000 per annum for covering tuition fee in excess of HK$250,000; and up to HK$150,000 per annum for covering living and other study-related expenses. Once awarded, a scholarship will last for the normal duration of the concerned programme in respect of undergraduate studies and up to two years in respect of all postgraduate studies. It will be renewable annually subject to the provision of satisfactory documentary proof of the awardees’ good academic performance.

To be eligible for the HKSES, applicants are required to meet the following two criteria:

  • have right of abode or right to land, or have entered Hong Kong on One-way Permits; and;
  • have resided in Hong Kong continuously for three complete years immediately prior to the commencement of the academic programme outside Hong Kong.

Grattan Scholars

Eligibility requirements

The Grattan Scholars programme supports exceptional Ph.D. students who have the potential to become future academic leaders and influential voices for social and economic development. These Scholars not only help to enrich the learning experience of undergraduate students but their research work will have a real impact on understanding the evolving challenges facing society. Scholarships are awarded annually to Ph.D. students of outstanding talent, from Ireland and abroad, who are selected to study on a priority research topic within the disciplines of Economics, Philosophy, Political Science and Sociology.

STEM Study Abroad Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be declared majors in a STEM subject at their home university and must apply to study at Trinity for at least one semester. Successful applicants will enrol in at least 20ECTS of STEM modules per term during their study at Trinity.

This scholarship is intended for students coming for semester long or full year Study Abroad. Students studying on exchange will not be eligible to apply.

Criteria for selection

Students will be selected based on their academic performance to date at their home university. Performance in STEM areas and in their major subject will be particularly relevant to their application.

CNPq PhD Funding

Eligibility requirements

1. It is necessary to find a Trinity academic supervisor, in order to secure CNPq funding. It is suggested that the following the steps be undertaken in order to find a suitable supervisor:

2. Students should then contact the relevant PI, including a CV and research topic. When contacting a prospective supervisor, it is important to mention that the intention is to be fully funded by the Brazilian government.
