The University of Law prioritises the accessibility of its courses to students of all backgrounds and financial circumstances. To help students with their tuition fees and other expenses, the University has a number of scholarships and bursaries in place which are open to all students.
Scholarships offered are given in accordance with academic achievements, extracurricular activities, or wider participation in the community. In order to receive a scholarship, applicants are required to have an offer from the University and to satisfy entry criteria for the individual scholarship.
International bursaries are available to eligible international students as an annual course fee reduction. The value of the bursary depends on which course is studied. International bursaries are applied automatically to eligible students, so students do not need to apply separately.
For admission to The University of Law, international students need to satisfy several entry requirements. Each course has its own academic entry requirements and students are advised to check they meet these prior to application.
Most international students will need to prove their English language proficiency before starting a course. This can be through an English language qualification, which will need to meet the University’s minimum requirements.
For most courses, the requirement is an overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band score lower than 6.0 (or an equivalent qualification). However, requirements can vary and students are advised to check the eligibility criteria for their preferred course.
Those who have an academic qualification that is equivalent to a UK degree, and were taught in a predominantly English-speaking country, may not have to prove their English language proficiency.
Students who need to improve their English language levels to qualify for a University course can study the University’s seven-week pre-sessional English course.
Students must also check the visa they will need. The University provides support for receiving a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) for those requiring a Student Route visa.
With lecturers being qualified lawyers, experienced business professionals or academic experts, international students benefit from a wide range of expertise at The University of Law. Degree courses balance academic rigour and practical skills, so students are working towards achieving their career and ambitions right from the start.
Students learn from academic lecturers in small, interactive classes combining a mixture of workshops and small-group classes to ensure students have the one-to-one support they need. Learning methods are varied and designed to equip students with the practical knowledge and skills required to think and act like a successful professional, whatever the field. Each student has their own designated Student Journey Advisor and Academic Coach to provide ongoing personalised support.
Students have the added benefit of receiving career guidance and advice from the University’s specialist team of legal and business careers advisors. Whether it’s enhancing a CV, refining interview techniques, or general career planning, help is on hand from their award-winning Employability Service.
In addition, the University has a renowned and varied pro bono programme in which law students can see how the law impacts the real world, while simultaneously obtaining valuable experience to add to a CV.
All courses at The University of Law are created with a unique and innovative outlook on learning to help students achieve their ambitions. With a wide variety of courses on campus and online, students can develop their skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, commercial awareness and more.

Many of the University’s business programmes, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, include the option to complete an industry work placement of up to 12 months. Placements enable students to put into practice their academic learning alongside practical experience to enhance future employability prospects. During the placement, students undertake work as an employee of an organisation and are treated as such.

The University has a dedicated international student advice team which provides information and guidance on a range of matters, including immigration and visa issues, practical support on life in the UK and specialised wellbeing advice. They also organise a range of events and activities for international students throughout the year, including an international student buddy scheme.
