Several international qualifications are accepted for undergraduate admissions. Applicants should check the country specific requirements page on the university’s website for the most relevant information.
Applicants for a taught master’s degree will usually be required to hold the equivalent of a UK bachelor’s degree. Similarly, for MPhil and PhD courses, international applicants need to hold a master’s qualification or the equivalent of a high-grade bachelor’s degree, alongside some research experience and thesis writing.
International applicants also need to demonstrate English-language proficiency. A minimum of CEFR B2 in each component (speaking, writing, listening and reading) is required and is also necessary to secure a study visa for entry into the UK.
For students who do not meet these minimum requirements, there is an English Language Centre on campus, which runs pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses to improve skills to gain a university place. Some of the shorter course (12-week, 10-week and 6-week options) can be studied online or on campus.
International applicants who have different education systems from the UK may require additional preparation before commencing a degree at the University of Liverpool.
