The main purpose of the Scholarships is to fund postgraduate students who are admitted to the PhD programme in the University of Auckland Business School with the intention of undertaking research on a topic which has the potential to impact on New Zealand business and/or business development in a globalising world.

The Scholarship may be awarded to new students who have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for full-time enrolment in a PhD degree in the University of Auckland Business School. Eligible candidates who have begun their PhD programme in the University of Auckland Business School may also be considered for this Scholarship.

The Scholarship is tenable by international students who are paying domestic fees.

Asian Development Bank - Japan Scholarship Programme

Eligibility requirements

Eligible applicants must be / have:

  • A national of an ADB borrowing member
  • Gained admission to an approved masters at an approved academic institution
  • A bachelors degree or its equivalent with superior academic record
  • At least two years of full-time professional work experience (acquired after a university degree) at the time of application
  • Proficiency in oral and written English communication skills to be able to pursue studies
  • Under 35 years old at the time of application. In exceptional cases, for programmes which are appropriate for senior officials and managers, the age limit is 45 years
  • In good health
  • Agree to return to your home country after completing the programme.

Ineligible: Executive Directors, Alternate Directors, management and staff of ADB, consultants, and relatives of the aforementioned; staff of JSP-designated institutions are not eligible to apply to their own institution; applicants living or working in a country other than his/her home country; applicants who are already enrolled in graduate degree programmes or who have already completed graduate degree programmes; undergraduate studies, distance learning programmes, short-term training, conferences, seminars, thesis writing, and research projects.

Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries International Student Masters Award

The main purpose of the Award is to attract new international students to enrol in masters level study of one year or more in the Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries at the University of Auckland, and thereby to support the Faculty’s strategic objectives of teaching, research and collaborative partnerships with other universities.

Colfuturo University of Auckland PhD Fees Bursary

The intention of the Fees Bursary is to encourage and support academically excellent international students who are part of the Semilleros de Talento programme to undertake doctoral study at the University of Auckland. 

The Bursary may be awarded to new students who have received a conditional or unconditional offer for admission to a PhD at the University of Auckland. Students already enrolled in a PhD at the University of Auckland are also eligible for consideration for this Bursary.

The intention of the Scholarship is to encourage and support academically excellent domestic and international students, who are paying domestic fees, to undertake doctoral study at the University of Auckland. Students who are undertaking their first doctoral programme will be assessed for scholarship eligibility and award at the time of application to the doctoral programme.

Students who have been offered a scholarship must meet all requirements for admission into their intended programme in order to take up the scholarship offer.

All applicants who obtained a grade point average (GPA) of 8.00 or above (in their most recent qualifying programme) at a New Zealand university will be awarded a scholarship.
