Asian Development Bank - Japan Scholarship Programme

Eligibility requirements

Eligible applicants must be / have: a national of an ADB borrowing member (applicants from countries that are no longer borrowing from ADB are not eligible for the ADB-JSP; gained admission to an approved masters at an approved academic institution; a bachelors degree or its equivalent with superior academic record; at least two years of full-time professional work experience (acquired after a university degree) at the time of application; proficiency in oral and written English communication skills to be able to pursue studies; not more than 35 years old at the time of application. In exceptional cases, for programmes which are appropriate for senior officials and managers, the age limit is 45 years; in good health; eligible applicants should agree to return to their home country after completion of studies under the programme; executive Directors, Alternate Directors, management and staff of ADB, consultants, and relatives of the aforementioned are not eligible for the Scholarship; staff of JSP-designated institutions are not eligible to apply to their own institution; applicants living or working in a country other than his/her home country are not eligible for scholarships; ADB-JSP does not support applicants who are already enrolled in graduate degree programs; ADB-JSP does not sponsor undergraduate studies, distance learning programmes, short-term training, conferences, seminars, thesis writing, and research projects.

To be considered for the scholarship, you must submit the following documentation prior to the closing date:

  • Completed ADB-JSP Information Sheet 
  • Academic documentation – both academic transcripts and degree certificates
  • Certificate of Employment for the duration of employment issued by the company
  • Certificate of Income issued by the company 
  • Certificate of Family Income issued by the company. Must be either your parents or spouses annual/monthly income.
  • Copy of your Passport
  • Valid IELTS test

Covers tuition fees; airfare from the scholar's home country to Auckland, New Zealand; basic cost of living in Auckland; health and medical insurance in New Zealand; airfare from Auckland, New Zealand, to the scholar's home country at the conclusion of his or her course of study. For scholars engaged in research, a special grant may be available for thesis preparation

Eligibility requirements

These scholarships provide opportunities for individuals from selected developing Commonwealth countries to undertake masters or PhD studies in New Zealand. As with other New Zealand Aid Programme funded scholarships, Commonwealth Scholarships play an important role in addressing human resource development needs of developing countries.
The scholarships are awarded to candidates of strong academic merit who are expected to make a significant contribution to the development of their home country following completion of their studies.

Postgraduate Awards

Eligibility requirements

The Awards were established by the Faculty of Law to encourage and support academically outstanding students to undertake a Master of Laws, Master of Legal Studies and Master of Taxation Studies at the Auckland Law School. 

The awards are intended to cover a substantial amount of the recipients’ costs. A Faculty of Law Postgraduate Award will be worth NZ$10,000 is awarded to five eligible international and/or domestic applicants.

The awards will be made by the Dean of Law (or their nominee), upon the recommendation of a selection committee. 
The awards will be made on the basis of academic merit.

University of Auckland Health Research Doctoral Scholarships

University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

The University will be awarding University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarships to high-achieving doctoral candidates applying for admission to an approved doctoral programme1 at the University of Auckland for 2018. Scholarships are guaranteed for all ‘straight-A’ students, provided their most recent qualifying programme was completed at a New Zealand university.
 

New doctoral applicants with a grade point average (GPA) of 8.00 or above, from their most recent qualifying programme, will be guaranteed a scholarship provided the qualifying programme was completed at a New Zealand university.

New Māori and domestic3 Pacific doctoral applicants with a GPA of 7.50 or above, from their most recent qualifying programme, will be guaranteed a scholarship provided the qualifying programme was completed at a New Zealand university.

When you apply for a place at the University, you will have the opportunity to confirm whether or not you also wish to be considered for a University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship — you don’t need to apply separately.

There are no scholarship "rounds" or application forms. This means you can apply for a place on a doctoral programme when you are ready, safe in the knowledge that you will also be assessed  for the scholarship when your grades are confirmed.

Scholarship offers will be made alongside offers of places in doctoral programmes.

Value details

Doctoral stipends are increasing for 2018 to NZ $27,600 p.a. (plus domestic fees), with the possibility of a six-month extension. There will be an annual cost-of-living adjustment to the doctoral stipend.
