The Academic Merit Scholarships are offered to international students to encourage academic excellence and student leadership and to continue UB’s tradition of enrolling a “Community of Scholars” from around the world. Scholarships are available to qualified undergraduate and graduate students.

The following financial resources are particularly helpful for UB’s international students:

  • Fastweb is the premier online resource for paying and preparing for college.
  • EduPass provides information for international students who are thinking about pursuing an undergraduate, graduate, or professional education in the United States. It also contains material of interest to international students who are already in the United States. 
  • The Rowe Fund is the student loan program of the Organization of American States. It awards interest-free loans to qualified persons from Latin America and Caribbean OAS member countries to help finance graduate, postgraduate, and the final two years of undergraduate studies at accredited universities within the United States.
  • International Financial Aid and College Scholarship Search (IEFA) is the premier resource for financial aid, college scholarship and grant information for US and international students wishing to study abroad. At this site, you will find the most comprehensive college scholarship search and grant listings plus international student loan programs and other information to promote study abroad.

Graduate Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

The University of Bridgeport launched a graduate scholarship program to help deserving students meet the financial obligations of pursuing higher education. 

You must be an applicant for one of the following programs:

  • A master’s level program in the School of Business
  • East Asian and Pacific Rim Studies, M.A.
  • Global Development and Peace, M.A.
  • Global Media and Communication Studies, M.A.
  • A master’s level program in the School of Engineering

Each program requires standardized test scores for scholarship consideration:

  1. A master’s level program in the School of Business – GMAT (unless you are eligible for a waiver)
  2. East Asian and Pacific Rim Studies – GRE (General Test)
  3. Global Development and Peace – GRE (General Test)
  4. Global Media and Communication Studies – GRE (General Test)
  5. School of Engineering – GRE (General Test)

UB also offers a 50 percent tuition discount for law enforcement personnel (police officers, corrections officers, parole officers, members of the armed forces and veterans) who have permanent residence in Connecticut, New York, or New Jersey and are enrolled in the M.A. Criminal Justice and Human Security program. Eligible students are required to submit the employment verification form after receiving acceptance into the M.A. Criminal Justice and Human Security program.

There are three award amounts - USD $3,000, USD $4,000 and USD $5,000-that are awarded for the first year of study only, and the amount of the award is determined by a student’s academic achievement and test scores.

General Academic Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

Academic scholarships are available to first year applicants seeking an associate or a bachelor degree. All awards are renewable yearly based on satisfactory academic achievement and good standing at the University of Bridgeport. All incoming undergraduate international students are automatically considered for these scholarship awards once all application materials are received by the specified deadlines.

  • Spring deadline: December 1
  • Fall deadline: July 15

Trustee Scholarship: USD $20,000/year; Presidential Scholarship: USD $15,000/year; Provost's Scholarship: USD $12,500/year; Deans Achievement Scholarship: UDS $10,000/year; Academic Achievement Grant: USD $5,000/year; Athletic Scholarship amount varies.

Graduate Scholarships for International Students

Eligibility requirements

University of Bridgeport launched a new international graduate scholarship program for incoming international graduate students.

The details are as follows:

  • Qualified applicants to the MBA Program, all graduate programs in the College of Public and International Affairs, and all graduate programs in our School of Engineering are eligible for this award.
  • Students who wish to be considered for a scholarship must submit a TOEFL / IELTS score and a GRE or GMAT score.
  • The scholarship will be for the international student’s first year of study, split equally between the first two semesters.
  • All graduate students with a scholarship must take 9 credits per semester.

UBCNM Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

UBCNM Scholarships are awarded each fall to incoming naturopathic medicine students.  Students who receive the scholarship serve as ambassadors to the ND program and participate in recruitment duties such as Open Houses, virtual fairs, and meeting with prospective students.  Recipients are eligible to receive the award each year of the four-year program provided that they are full-time students, maintain a 3.0 GPA, do not obtain a graduate assistantship, and participate regularly as student ambassadors

The Michael Katke Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Eligible programs at UB include the Master’s in Human Nutrition (both on-campus and online) and the Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.), and application is limited to new incoming students to either program.

The Michael Katke Scholarship is only awarded once a year for the Fall semester. Due to the competitive nature of this award, you are strongly encouraged to submit your scholarship application as soon as possible and not wait until the deadline below.

Fall semester: May 1

Submit a well-written, typed essay that is at least six hundred (600) words and states the reason(s) that the student desires to practice functional or lifestyle medicine.
