International Research Scholarships

A maximum of two international research scholarships worth the full tuition fee for each year of your research degree (for up to a maximum of three years) are available to outstanding international research students in all areas of study; The criteria for awarding University of Brighton international research scholarships are: academic merit (including English language ability); full fee-paying international student status and acceptance onto a research degree at the University of Brighton. Who is eligible: In order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must be a new, full-time international research student with an unconditional offer for entry in October 2020.

Forward Bound Scholarships

Student requirements

The Forward Bound scholarship is available to Health Promotion MSc applicants from low or lower-middle income countries. It is intended to support health and other professionals who are employed or who volunteer in roles where they will be able to influence health promotion practice and policy on their return. Who is eligible?: Invitation to apply for the scholarship is given to applicants as follows: Candidates with a directly relevant degree, and relevant professional or voluntary experience and a strong personal statement and vision of how the MSc Health Promotion can enhance their future work for their country/community; Candidates with less relevant degrees are considered based on their professional or voluntary experience and personal statement; Applicants who already hold a degree which is considered equivalent to a masters degree from the UK are unlikely to qualify for Tier 4 study visa; Applicants who have previously had an opportunity to study in the UK (or other higher income country) are not eligible to apply; To be eligible for the Forward Bound Scholarship, you need to have been offered a place on the MSc Health Promotion course; Applicants should normally be a paid health/public health professional. In exceptional cases, applicants whose influence is through non-paid roles – for example, through voluntary agencies or through other health related work – may also be considered. Each year either one fully-funded scholarship or two partially-funded scholarships will be awarded. It is a highly competitive scholarship; A partial scholarship will be determined on a case by case basis, please indicate your willingness to consider a partial award, (for example fees only or award of £12,500 towards costs) and how the costs of the remainder will be met.

Application details

The scholarship panel meets in June and the closing date for scholarship applications is 17:00 (GMT) on 10 June 2020. This means that course applications need to be received by May 31st.

A full scholarship will fund course fees, travel costs, accommodation, visa, subsistence and health insurance for 12-months – equivalent to a cost of £25,000.

Vice-Chancellor's Postgraduate Alumni Scholarships

Who is eligible?: The Vice-Chancellor's postgraduate alumni scholarship is only available to University of Brighton alumni who graduate with a first or 2:1 in academic year 2019–20; Eligible graduates must be progressing straight onto a masters course in academic year 2020–21; The scholarship is available to eligible students who enrol on a full masters degree.

Application details

To be eligible for this scholarship you must apply for your course by September 2020. Eligible graduates do not need to apply separately for this scholarship - it will be awarded automatically if your masters application is successful and you enrol on the course.

Vice-Chancellor's Postgraduate Excellence Scholarships

Who is eligible?: The Vice-Chancellor's postgraduate excellence scholarship is only available to graduates who obtain a first-class degree from a UK institution in 2019–20 academic year; Eligible graduates must be progressing straight onto a masters course; The scholarship is available to eligible students who enrol on a full masters degree in academic year 2020–21; Students enrolling on PGDip or PGCert courses are not eligible for this scholarship.
