Huacheng Chinese Culture Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

For non-local candidates: their achievements in international or national qualifications.

The Scholarships shall be awarded as:

i. entrance scholarships to talented students admitted to the University to pursue undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Arts starting from year 2012-13, for an initial period of 5 years, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Business and Economics starting from 2013-14, for 10 years.

ii. bursaries through the “First-in-the-Family Education Fund” to support needy students at the Faculty of Arts by encouraging them to take part in learning activities outside the classroom from year 2012-13, for an initial period of 5 years.

Tang Pak Kau Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

The Scholarships shall be awarded as:

Wong Family Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

The aim of these scholarships is to strengthen the Faculty's human rights programme and encourage interaction and engagement among human rights advocates from both within and outside the Asian region. Chinese Medicine Entrance Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

The School of Chinese Medicine decided to establish the Chinese Medicine Entrance Scholarship to attract outstanding JUPAS students to study for the degree of Bachelor of Chinese Medicine (BChinMed).

The Scholarship Shall be awarded to first-year students who are admitted to the BChinMed programme via the JUPAS route on the basis of academic merits as below: HKAL(2AL+1AS) Numerical Score 3.0 or above - HK$20,000 3.5 or above - HK$30,000 4.0 or above - HK$42,100

Medical Faculty Springboard Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

The Scholarships shall be awarded to first year undergraduate students of the Faculty. Preference will be given to students from less advantaged backgrounds , those who belong to minority groups or those who otherwise have had a harder early life than others. Students from non-traditional paths with solid academic achievements, particularly from underprivileged families, will be given priority.

MBA (International) Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

1. Scholarships shall be available for 1st year students of the IMBA-General Stream Programme, on the basis of GMAT examination results and interview scores:

GMAT Scores

  • 750 or above (a scholarship of full tuition fee)
  • 700 or above (a scholarship ranging from 3/10 to 1/2 of the tuition fee)
  • 680 or above (RMB30,000)
  • 650 or above (RMB10,000)

2. Ten scholarships shall be available for 1st year students of the IMBA-General Stream Programme, on the basis of GRKexamination results, interview scores and select the IMBA-General Stream Programme asthe first school choice.

One awardee will receive a scholarship of full tuition fee, 1 awardee will receive a scholarship of 1/2 of tuition fee; and 2 awardees will each receive a scholarship of 3/10 of tuition fee and 6 awardees will each receive a scholarship of RMB30,000.

3. Ten scholarships shall be available for 1st year students of the IMBA-General Stream Programme, on the basis of prior academic performance for admission and interview scores. Each awardee receive a scholarship of RMB20,000.

Master of Public Health Entrance Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

The Scholarship shall be awarded to newly enrolled candidates pursuing the full-time or part-time MPH programme from low-incomeor lower-middle-income countries as defined by the World Bank.

Rosita King Ho Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

The Scholarship Fund shall support the University’s strategic aims of diversifying the undergraduate population, and to provide local students with the best education and ample experience in other cultures.

The Scholarship shall be used for but not limited to the followings:
i) Entrance scholarship for first-year non-local undergraduate students based
on academic achievement at prevailing public examinations for admission to the University; or

The Scholarship shall be used for but not limited to the followings:

  • Entrance scholarship for first-year non-local undergraduate students based on academic achievement at prevailing public examinations for admission to the University; or
  • Enrichment scholarship for undergraduate students based on academic merit under the HKU Worldwide Student Exchange Programme for Undergraduate Students, or other programmes of a similar nature.

The value and tenure of awards shall be:

  • For entrance scholarship, partially or fully covering tuition fees and living expenses, and renewable each year until the completion of studies within the normative study period subject to a satisfactory academic performance being maintained
  • For enrichment scholarship, one-off awards up to HK$50,000 each. 

Concurrent holding of other scholarships:

  • For entrance scholarship, the Scholarship may be held concurrently with other scholarships provided that the total value of scholarship held does not exceed the maximum amount stipulated by the Senate each year.
  • For enrichment scholarship, the Scholarship may not be held concurrently with other enrichment scholarships for the same activity.

Eligibility requirements

Wong Ching Yee Medical Postgraduate Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

The Scholarships shall be awarded to postgraduate students reading for higher degrees in the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine. 

Holders of the Scholarships shall be required to pursue their studies full-time but may undertake approved teaching assistance duties similar to those applicable to holders of University Postgraduate Scholarships.

The scholarships shall be tenable for one year at a time, but may be renewed for a further two years subject to satisfactory academic progress.

JMSC Overseas Talent Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

The Scholarship shall be awarded to overseas journalists or students who wish to pursue the MJ/PDipJ programme at The University of Hong Kong, and who:

  • are non Hong Kong residents;
  • have maintained consistently good performance in the news industry and/or in academic results; and
  • have enthusiasm towards journalism and aspire to pursue a career in journalism.

The maximum value of the Scholarship awarded to each successful candidate shall be full, half or a quarter of the total MJ tuition fee of the awarding year.

The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic or professional merit; financial need shall be considered when candidates are of equal merit.

Entrance Scholarship in Nursing

Eligibility requirements

The Scholarship shall be awarded annually, on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Nursing, to Year 1 students admitted to the BNurs programme through JUPAS on the basis of academic merit as shown in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination.

The value of Scholarship shall be either:

(a) HK$5,000 each for students who obtained a score of 27; or

(b) HK$10,000 each for students who obtained a score of 28 or above

Computer Science Postgraduate Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

The Scholarship shall be awarded annually to students admitted to the full-time PhD programme.

Master of Finance Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

With effect from the academic year 2017-18, the scholarships shall be awarded to new students in the Master of Finance on the basis of academic merit at the time of admission.

Woo Li Shiu Charm Memorial Scholarship

Philip K H Wong Foundation Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

The main purpose is to nurture capable and promising non-local students to pursue undergraduate studies and free them from any financial constraints.

Henceforth, the “Philip K H Wong Foundation Scholarships"shall be used as entrance scholarships for non-local undergraduate students based on academic acheivement at prevailing public examinations for admission to the University.

The scholarships will be partially or fully covering tuition fees and living expenses, and renewable each year for three years until the completion of studies subject ot a satisfactory performance being maintained.
