Applicants should first apply for a place to study in the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies and then apply for the scholarship. Recipients of the award are expected to take an active interest in research activities within the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies and to contribute to the promotion of postgraduate study in the School via support at Open Days (once or twice per year) and by maintaining an up-to-date researcher profile on the School website.

Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to at least a UK 2:1 Honours degree prior to commencing their chosen Masters programme at Leeds. Applicants should either have graduated with the appropriate undergraduate degree or be in their final year of study. IELTS: 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in each component skill. TOEFL: 92 overall with no less than 21 in listening, 21 in reading, 23 in speaking and 22 in writing. Additional Requirements: It is required that the research proposal (MA by Research) or a proposed Dissertation title (taught Masters) should establish the applicant’s intention to pursue a course of study in the subject area of Theoretical Philosophy (broadly construed). Applicants must live within a reasonable distance of the University of Leeds whilst in receipt of this Scholarship.

Leeds Alumni Bursary

To be eligible you must: have previously studied at the University of Leeds at an undergraduate or postgraduate level, and this includes incoming study abroad students; be registering for an award leading to a postgraduate qualification (with the exception of the PGCE); be self-financing for at least part of the cost of your tuition fees. You are deemed to be self-funding if you have support from a friend or relative; have commenced your studies from September 2016 onwards. The bursary cannot be awarded retrospectively.
