UMass Lowell Legacy Scholarship - "Celebrate the Past, Build the Future"

UMass Lowell offers the Legacy Scholarship to children and/or grandchildren of UMass Lowell graduates who live out of state. UMass Lowell offers this opportunity because we believe it is important to celebrate the past accomplishments to build the future for the next generation of RiverHawks.

Renewal requirements: Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, full-time status, maximum of 8 consecutive semesters, cannot be combined with other university merit scholarships.

New England Regional Scholarships

FIRST Robotics Competition

UMass Lowell has partnered with the USFIRST to offer an annual scholarship for students who have participated in the FIRST Robotics program.

Academic Merit Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

UMass Lowell Navitas GSSP is committed to helping you achieve your career goals by offering scholarships to outstanding students. Each semester, UMass Lowell Navitas GSSP awards two students with academic merit scholarships. The scholarship award is equivalent to one academic semester’s fees (up to five academic subjects). Any additional costs, including travel or material such as books or equipment required as part of the program will be recipient's responsibility.

Eligibility:

  • Full-time enrolled student;
  • Competencies in all courses across current program are met;
  • No outstanding fees on student’s account;
  • No previous scholarship or bursary award from a UMass Lowell Navitas GSSP partner institution.

Conditions:

  • Students have completed his or hers first semester;
  • Students are liable to pay for any additional courses / subjects undertaken;
  • The scholarship is not transferable to other students or UMass Lowell Navitas GSSP partner institutes in any circumstances;
  • UMass Lowell Navitas GSSP partner institutions reserves the right not to award all or some of the scholarships in a given year;
  • The scholarship cannot be backdated.

Selection Criteria:

Selection will be based on:

  • Academic results (GPA) from their previous semester of study. Should two students have identical academic results, the scholarship panel will refer back to marks awarded within each subjects/course to ascertain the scholarship recipient.
  • Additional factors such as educational disadvantage, member of specific equity group and/or significantly adverse personal circumstances may be taken into account where the scholarship panel must differentiate between equally qualified applicants.
  • Outcome of scheduled interview (if required)

Application details

Students are not required to complete a separate application for the scholarship as it is awarded based on academic performance and ALL students are eligible. Simply complete the UMass Lowell GSSP application form to be considered.

UMass Lowell International Scholars Award

Eligibility requirements

UMass Lowell will award any Undergraduate Navitas GSSP student who successfully matriculates to the university with a $3,000 scholarship. The student may continue this scholarship provided they achieve a 3.0 CGPA. The award is granted at the end of each year based on the student attaining the required 3.0 average GPA. Terms and conditions:

  • Student's residency classification for tuition determination is International. In-State (Massachusetts residents), New England Regional, Out of State and Proximity students are not eligible for this scholarship. The student will not be eligible to receive this scholarship if their residency status changes for any reason.
  • Continuation of this scholarship award during their undergraduate career is dependent on maintaining full-time status (i.e., earn a minimum of 12 credits per semester) and a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 at the end of each academic year. This scholarship is renewable annually and awarded for a maximum of eight consecutive undergraduate semesters;
  • This scholarship award will be applied to their undergraduate day academic-year (i.e., consecutive fall & spring semesters) tuition and fees;
  • This scholarship does not cover Consortium or Online and Continuing Education courses. If the student  participate in a Professional Co-op experience through the Office of Career Services and that co-op experience extends the duration of their academic program, the scholarship may be extended. The student must contact the Financial Aid Office before their Professional Co-op experience begins. This process also applies should the student participate in a UMass Lowell-approved study abroad program.
