Department of Management and Marketing Journal Publication Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • have submitted your dissertation, but not have been advised of the result of the examination
  • not hold a similar award for the same purpose
  • not undertake full-time or substantial regular part-time employment during the tenure of the award (more than 10 hours per week is considered 'substantial regular part-time work')
  • be within the maximum candidature period (for PhD students the maximum candidature period is 4 years)
  • have submitted your thesis on or before your official Expected Work Submission Date as listed on the Student Portal, within the required candidature period

International students should ensure your visa allows you to stay in the country if upon submission of your thesis you are an un-enrolled student. International students must also comply with any contractual obligations you may owe to an employer or sponsor, particularly those obligations relating to the period to be spent in your home country following completion of your studies.

Application details

Submit a completed application form, including a proposal from the candidate about the writing up to be undertaken during the period of the award and the journal/publisher to which the articles or books will be submitted.

Include:

  • a signed recommendation from the supervisor, co-signed by the head of department, based on an assessment of your RHD research work and the nature of the thesis material being written up for publication.
  • A brief CV of no more than two A4 pages.

Integrating Urban Management with Disaster Risk Reduction

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • have enrolled or intend to enrol in a graduate research degree at the Melbourne School of Design
  • been awarded at least one of the following:
  1. a Masters by Research degree
  2. a Master by Coursework degree (with a research component that accounts for at least 25% of a year's work at 4th year or at Masters level)
  3. a four-year Honours degree
  • have achieved an overall H1 (80-100%) or H2A (75-79%) equivalent to grades received at an Australian university, in the relevant honours or Masters degree
  • have completed a degree in an area that is relevant to the intended PhD, including sufficient specialisation that you have already developed an understanding and appreciation of a body of knowledge relevant to your intended PhD
  • have completed a research project/component that accounts for at least 25% of their year's work at 4th year or at Masters level
  • satisfy the University's English Language Requirements.

The successful candidate will address one or more elements complementary to the BNH CRC Project: Urban Planning for Natural Hazard Mitigation.

Projects relevant to the overarching BNHCRC project above may include one or more of the following suggested themes:

  • Urban management and politics
  • Resilience of the built environment
  • Improved emergency management
  • Community Resilience
  • Analytical studies of Disasters
  • Particular hazards or hazard “types”
  • Comparative studies and international exemplars
  • Links between Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Ecological Sustainability

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • be an international student, studying full-time
  • be enrolled in, or enrolled to commence study in the field of agriculture
  • demonstrate academic merit

Recipients are expected to attend an award ceremony. Failure to attend (without extenuating circumstances) may result in cancellation of the scholarship.

Students are expected to maintain ‘good standing’ in their course. This means not being identified as at risk of, or making unsatisfactory progress.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • be enrolled in degree course at the University of Melbourne. Students undertaking a single subject or a non-award course (e.g. study abroad or exchange) are not eligible
  • be paying rent or board. Students paying mortgages are not eligible
  • complete a means test. Students with a married or de facto partner must also include their partner's income. Students under the age of 21 must include the income of their parents, unless a serious breakdown in the relationship between the student and their parents
