Eligibility requirements

Level 1 Award

Effective for students enrolling for the first time in Fall 2019: Eligible composite ACT score will be 27 or higher (SAT of 1260 or higher). All other qualifications will remain unchanged. 

  • Biological, adoptive parent who graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO.
  • Composite ACT score of 27 or higher or an SAT score of 1280 or higher
  • Non-U.S. resident
  • Non-Missouri resident
  • Required core minimum grade point average during the last four years of secondary school.
  • Minimum TOEFL score required by student’s academic department
  • Enrollment at MU the first semester after high school graduation
  • Cannot be combined with the International Merit Scholarship or the International Honors Scholarship.

Level 2 Award

  • Biological, adoptive parent who graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO.
  • Composite ACT score of 25 or higher or an SAT score of 1200
  • Non-U.S. resident
  • Non-Missouri resident
  • Required core minimum grade point average during the last four years of secondary school.
  • Minimum TOEFL score required by student’s academic department
  • Enrollment at MU the first semester after high school graduation
  • Cannot be combined with the International Merit Scholarship or the International Honors Scholarship.

Level 1 - Waiver of nonresident tuition (Approximately USD $15,000); Level 2 - Half waiver of nonresident tuition (approximately USD $7,500)

International Honors Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Minimum qualifications

  • Composite ACT score of 29 or higher or an SAT score of 1350 or higher for the new exam/1290 or higher pre-March 2016 exam
  • Excellent academic record in secondary school
  • Non-U.S. resident
  • Non-Missouri resident
  • Enrollment at MU directly after secondary-school graduation.

Renewable for an additional three years. Students can receive the scholarship for a maximum of eight regular (fall or spring) semesters or until receiving a bachelor's degree, whichever occurs first.

To remain eligible for the award, recipients must:

  • Remain continuously enrolled at MU for each regular (fall and spring) semester
  • Enroll for a minimum of 12 MU credit hours each semester (fall and spring)
  • Complete at least 24 graded credit hours each academic year
  • Maintain a cumulative MU grade point average of 3.25 or higher

No application required. Students are automatically considered once admitted to MU.

International Merit Scholarship

Minimum qualifications

  • Composite ACT score of 27 or higher or an SAT score of 1280 or higher for the new exam/1200 or higher pre-March 2016 exam
  • Minimum TOEFL score of 79 or higher (550-pbt; or 6.5 IELTS overall band score)
  • Non-U.S. resident
  • Non-Missouri resident
  • Enrollment at MU directly after secondary-school graduation.

To remain eligible for the award, recipients must:

  • Remain continuously enrolled at MU for each regular (fall and spring) semester
  • Enroll for a minimum of 12 MU credit hours each semester (fall and spring)
  • Complete at least 24 graded credit hours each academic year
  • Maintain a cumulative MU grade point average of 3.25 or higher
