High Achievers Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

The High Achievers’ Scholarships (HAS) are available on an automatic basis to all academically-qualified students who are applying for entry onto the Foundation and Undergraduate program at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

General criteria

A-level: 3A’s, excluding General Studies

IB: 36 points and above (6, 6, 6 at Higher Level)

STPM: 3A’s, excluding General Studies (A-minus will not be considered as equivalent to an A)

UEC: 5A’s, excluding Chinese Language and Malay Language

Specific criteria

Faculty of Science and Engineering:

Chemical Engineering: to include mathematics and physics/chemistry as part of the General Criteria

Civil, Electrical and Electronic, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering: to include mathematics and physics as part of the General Criteria

Mathematical Sciences: to include mathematics as part of the General Criteria

School of Biosciences: to include Chemistry or Biology as part of the General Criteria

Division of Biomedical Sciences: to include Chemistry or Biology as part of the General Criteria

School of Computer Science: to include Mathematics as part of the General Criteria.

School of Pharmacy

BSc in Pharmaceutical & Health Sciences: to include Chemistry or Biology as part of the General Criteria

MPharm Pharmacy: to include Chemistry as part of the General Criteria - only applies to the portion of studies in Malaysia

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences:

Non-academic subjects or General studies will not be considered

Application details

Students must submit their Offer Acceptance forms and pay their Offer Acceptance fee before the HAS may be awarded to them.

The HAS is awarded for only one academic year and is not applicable for the progressing academic year. Students may subsequently be eligible at the point of progression for the Dean’s Excellence Scholarships (DES).

Application deadline for all foundation programmes:17 June 2020

Applications received after the published deadline will not be eligible for this scholarship.

Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Scholarships are available for students from the developing and third world countries registering for taught Masters program at Malaysia Campus in areas related to science, technology and education, including the following courses: 

  • MSc Civil Engineering
  • MSc Computer Science
  • MSc Mechanical Engineering
  • MSc Electronic Communication & Computer Engineering
  • MSc Crop Biotechnology
  • MA Educational Leadership & Management
  • MA Special Needs
  • MA TESOL
  • MSc International Development Management
  • MA International Relations

Application details

In order to apply for one of these scholarships you must;

Be holding an unconditional offer letter and accepted the offer by paying RM 2,000 for full time Masters degree programme at University of Nottingham Malaysia for 2019/20 intakes. Copy of unconditional offer letter and acceptance form must be attached together with the application.

Be classified as an ‘overseas’ student for fee purposes.

Have at least 1 full year working experience after completion of undergraduate programme. Fresh graduates will not be considered.

Must sufficiently enable to support cost of living throughout the duration of studies.

Complete our scholarship application form online. Please take note only completed form with all supporting documents will be considered.

Submission of application will be open from March 2020

Application for September 2019 intake is open from 1 March 2020 and closed by 2 August 2020. Successful applicants will be notified by 23 August 2020

Application for December 2020 intake is open from 1 June 2020 and closed by 18 October 2020. Successful applicants will be notified by 8 November 2020

Current students and graduates of UNMC will not be considered for this scholarship as to give new students an opportunity.

Only complete applications and meet the above requirements will be entertained.

Family Scholarship - Spouse Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Spouses who register full-time at the University for award-bearing courses are entitled to a scholarship of 10 per cent of the first year's tuition fees for one of the spouses.

This scholarship is automatic on evidence of the spouse relationship and of both spouses being registered on full-time award-bearing program. It is not necessary for both spouses to be studying at the same time to gain this award.

Faculty of Arts and Social Science Taught Postgraduate Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences recognizes academic excellence through its Arts and Social Sciences Excellence Award. All PGT students, excluding MBA and MA Educational Leadership and Management (Malaysian/non-Malaysian) applying to pursue either a full/part-time Master programme are eligible for a 25% fee reduction if they meet the following the criteria:

Fulfill all admission requirements

Possess a strong upper second class honours degree (with an average of at least 68 under the British Grading Scheme, or a 3.4/4 US CGPA equivalent).

Other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Family Scholarship - Children of Alumni

Children of alumni who register full-time at the University for an award bearing program are entitled to a scholarship of 10 per cent of the first year's tuition fee.

This scholarship is automatic once an application form has been completed and the evidence provided of one of the parents being a Nottingham alumnus.

Alumni Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Alumni who register at the University on full-time award bearing program, after spending a period away from the University, are entitled to a scholarship of 10% of the first year's tuition fee.

Alumni, who register at the University on full-time award bearing program, moving straight from one degree to another, via Bachelors to Masters or Masters to PhD (not MPhil upgrading to PhD) are entitled to the following scholarships.

  • Those registering on Masters Degrees will receive a 10% tuition fee scholarship
  • Those registering on PhD program will receive a 10% tuition fee scholarship for every year of the PhD program (subject to satisfactory progress)

Alumni scholarships are automatic on evidence of previous successfully completed study at The University of Nottingham leading to an award has been provided.

Family Scholarship - Sibling Scholarship

Where siblings register full-time on award bearing program at the University, each second and subsequent sibling is entitled to a scholarship of 10 per cent of the first year's tuition fee. The siblings need not be studying on program at the University at the same time but may have registered some years apart.

This scholarship is automatic on evidence of the sibling relationship and each sibling being registered on full-time award-bearing program.

Dean's Excellence Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

They are awarded to top achieving students ─ at the point of progression for each academic year, ie from:

  • Foundation to Year 1
  • Year 1 to Year 2
  • Year 2 to Year 3
  • Year 3 to Year 4 (for Engineering course only)

This means that students who entered university without a High Achievers' Scholarship may be eligible for the DES when they perform outstandingly on the program they have undertaken.
