To be eligible, you must:

  • be a citizen of India
  • have achieved a GPA (or overseas equivalent) of 80% over 7 semesters of undergraduate studies or 75% over 8 semesters of undergraduate studies at a higher education institution in India
  • be able to commence as an international student (in accordance with The University's Fee Policy) in Australia on a student visa.

UQ Economics India Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

  • Citizens of India, who normally reside in India and are not already undertaking any studies in Australia. Those studying English in Australia are still eligible to apply.
  • Students must not simultaneously hold another scholarship for tuition fees.
  • Students who have received an offer and who are commencing students at UQ.
  • The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence and high achieving students are encouraged to apply.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Excellence Scholarships

Eligibility requirements

An applicant is eligible for the Scholarship, if –

(a)        the applicant submits an application for the Scholarship to the Head, by the closing date for applications; and

(b)        is either –

(i)      a domestic student in accordance with The University’s Fee Policy; or

(ii)     an international student who has completed Years 11 and 12 in Australia; and

(c)        in the two years immediately before the award, the applicant completed Year 12 (or overseas equivalent); and

(d)        the applicant enrols in a Relevant Program and, where applicable, in one of the Relevant Fields, in the year of the award, or after an approved deferment of one year; and

(e)        the applicant does not hold a scholarship that the Head deems similar.

Approved Program means any of the following programs at The University of Queensland –

(a)        Bachelor of Information Technology; or

(b)        Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)

(c)        Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) / Master of Engineering

(d)        Bachelor of Computer Science

             and includes a dual program which includes any of the above programs.

Relevant Field means any of the following fields in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) programs –

(a)        Electrical Engineering; or (b) Electrical and Biomedical Engineering; or (c) Electrical and Computer Engineering; or (d) Mechatronic Engineering; or (e) Software Engineering.

Eligibility requirements

The scholarship is open to students who:

  • in the year immediately before, completed year 12 at a secondary school in north Queensland,
  • are enrolled full-time in first year courses for an undergraduate program at The University of Queensland, and
  • can demonstrate that they provided service to their local community while attending senior secondary school.

Selection criteria

The scholarship is awarded as tenure becomes vacant to the applicant showing greatest merit based on:

  • academic achievement in secondary school,
  • the service that the applicant has given to their local community during senior secondary school, and
  • any other matter that the Academic Registrar considers to be relevant to the applicant's future professional success.

Alfred and Olivea Wynne Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

The scholarships are open to financially disadvantaged students who either:

  • are residents of Maryborough or surrounds (within a radius of 65km), or
  • have family connections with that area (parents and grandparents, within the last 5 years).

The scholarships shall be offered in the following order:

  • to full-time undergraduate students
  • to part-time internal undergraduate students
  • to postgraduate internal students.

Selection criteria

The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of:

  • the financial need of the student (and considering their family circumstances), and
  • academic merit, taking into account the level of study of the student.

Students in receipt of other scholarship assistance valued at AUD $8,000 or more in a year will not be eligible for an award.

Venerable Archdeacon Edward Leo Hayes Adult Undergraduate Scholarship

The scholarship is open to applicants who:

         (a)     are not less than 25 years of age on the date the application must be lodged; and

          (b)     intend to enrol at the University in the first semester of the year of the award.

Preference will be given to students who lived or worked in the area of the Darling Downs for a period of 12 months.

Strengthening Indigenous Community Capability for Sustainable Livelihoods Through the Native Botanicals Industry

Eligibility requirements

Applicants will have a First Class Honours degree or equivalent.  Basic expertise and experience is required in one or more of the following areas: anthropology, sociology, economics, law,  social business, or related discipline.

A background in community capacity building is highly desirable.  The successful applicant will have strong communication skills, an interest in community development or social enterprise development and have experience working in cross-disciplinary teams.  The successful applicant will have a willingness to travel for periods (weeks or months) working outdoors and in remote locations directly with Aboriginal communities or industry, and be willing to work alongside the industry partner.

Strong academic performance demonstrated through publication output in peer reviewed international journals is highly desirable.

Paula and Tony Kinnane Art History Scholarship

An applicant is eligible for the Scholarship, if the applicant -

  • submits an application to the Committee, by the closing date for applications; and
  • is or will be enrolled full-time in a Relevant Field. 

Relevant Field means art history in an undergraduate degree that offers the field of art history in a study sequence.

Selection criteria

For the selection process, the Executive Dean must establish a selection committee comprising -

  • Executive Dean, or nominee, as Chair of the Committee; and
  • Director, UQ Art Museum, or nominee; and
  • at least one other UQ staff member nominated by the Chair

The Scholarship will be awarded to the applicant or applicants showing the greatest merit as demonstrated by-

  • academic achievement; and
  • relevant interest or experience in the Relevant Field; and
  • any other matter that the selection committee considers relevant to the applicant’s future success in art history.

In a year where there are eligible applicants, preference for one Scholarship may be given to applicants from a rural or remote region of Queensland.

Science International Scholarships

To be eligible for a Science International Scholarship at UQ, an applicant must:

  • Be able to be classified as an international student in Australia. 
  • By the scholarships closing date, submit all documentation to meet conditions associated with an offer from UQ for an approved program.

Hidden Vale Wildlife Conservation Top Up Scholarship

This scholarship is open to Doctor of Philosophy candidates researching wildlife conservation in association with the Hidden Vale Wildlife Project.

Applicants must be in receipt of or apply for and be awarded a living allowance scholarship of at least the Research Training Program rate (AUD $28,092 for 2020, indexed annually) to be eligible to receive this top-up.
