Postgraduate Merit Scholarships 2020

The scholarships are available to international applicants with an offer to study a full-time MSc programme for 2020 entry. For all master’s programmes in: Arts and Humanities; Engineering and Physical Sciences; Environmental and Life Sciences; Medicine. Eligibility: Achieve a 1st or equivalent in an undergraduate degree: £3,000; Achieve a 2:1 or equivalent in an undergraduate degree: £2,000. Southampton Business School: MSc Scholarship - Achieve a 1st or equivalent in an undergraduate degree: £5,000 Achieve a 2:1 or equivalent in an undergraduate degree: £3,000; MBA Scholarship - Scholarships of up to £9,000 for candidates who can display a combination of specific business excellence criteria on the full time MBA programme. Economic, Social and Political Sciences, Southampton Education School, Southampton Law School and Mathematical Sciences: Achieve a 1st or equivalent in an undergraduate degree: £3,000.

Postgraduate Research Scholarship (Presidential Scholarships)

Student requirements

The Postgraduate Research Scholarship (Presidential Scholarships) fund runs annually and is administered by the Doctoral College. The scheme is open to all nationalities and subject areas. Each component will be payable for a maximum of up to 3.5 years (or 84 months pro rata for part time students), or until the date of the first submission of the thesis, whichever is the soonest. The maximum length of time may be adjusted pro rata for part time students. The fees and stipend components of the scholarship will be reviewed annually. The stipend will be pegged to the UKRI minimum.

Application details

No formal application for the scholarships is required from the candidate. Applications for Scholarships from suitably qualified candidates must be made by the hosting Supervisory Team, considered by the relevant Faculty and forwarded by the Faculty Graduate School Office to the Doctoral College for consideration. The recipients of the scholarships must commence their doctoral studies by research between 1 August and 1 December 2020.
