Eligibility:

To be eligible for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Indigenous Australian HDR Scholarship, applicants:

  • identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander on their Application for Admission to HDR and PGRS
  • are accepted for entry to a higher degree by research (HDR) at USC
  • do not hold an equivalent HDR qualification to that being applied for
  • recipients must maintain satisfactory progress as a full-time higher degree by research candidate at the University of the Sunshine Coast

  • Most recent and relevant degree

Value details

The stipend is commensurate with the Australian Postgraduate Award and will increment annually. The 2016 value is AUD $26,288 per annum.

Anti-Cancer, Natural Product Transcriptomics PhD Top-Up Scholarship

Eligibility:
To be eligible for this award, applicants must:

  • hold a Bachelor degree with a minimum 2A Honours in a relevant discipline area e.g. molecular biology or plant biochemistry OR have an equivalent level of attainment via previous study, work experience, research publications, referee's reports and other research experience; and
  • demonstrated ability to conduct basic research, for example:
  • 1. execution of research experiments
  • 2. maintenance of accurate laboratory notebooks
  • 3. use of databases and other software
  • 4. data analysis and report writing
  • 5. compliance with laboratory WH&S guidelines.
  • demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and develop new research techniques.
  • demonstrated ability to organise and safely undertake laboratory research with minimal supervision.
  • experience in molecular biology,  plant biochemistry and/or natural products chemistry are desirable
  • not hold an equivalent HDR qualification to that being applied for
  • not be receiving an equivalent scholarship, or salary providing a benefit greater than 75 percent of the APA stipend rate to undertake the HDR
  • recipients must maintain satisfactory progress as a full-time higher degree by research candidate at the University of the Sunshine Coast

AUD $10,000 per annum top-up stipend for three years, and AUD $30,000 operating funds and a further AUD $7,500 travel scholarship (total top-up scholarship value is AUD $67,500 over three years).

  • must have completed an undergraduate qualification in any discipline
  • applicants will be considered ineligible if currently in receipt of another major USC or external scholarship (this does not include bursaries)

Applicants will be assessed based on:

  • financial need
  • demonstrated involvement within or for indigenous communities
  • evidence of Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (unless criterion has previously been met)

The scholarship is valued at AUD $4000 for full-time study, to be paid in installments over 2 semesters (pro-rata for part-time and sectional study). In addition, all course fees and the Student Services and Amenities fee for the relevant semester(s) will be waived.

History of Rugby Union Research Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Masters Scholarship, applicants must

  • hold a Bachelor degree of at least 5.0 or higher on a seven point scale or a Bachelor degree with Honours Class 2B; or equivalent level of attainment via previous study, work experience, research publications, referee's reports and other research experience. Prior study must be in the area of study relevant to the discipline area of this Masters Degree.
  • Recipients must maintain satisfactory progress as a full-time Masters candidate at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Selection criteria:
Priority will be given to highly motivated applicants who have completed honours in history, sports history and / or oral history; or appropriate postgraduate research training. Applications will be assessed on the following selection criteria:
