Asian Development Bank - Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP)

Postgraduate

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

  • be a citizen of the Asia Development Bank's developing member countries
  • have gained an unconditional offer for one of the approved postgrad courses listed above
  • have at least two years full-time professional work experience (acquired after a university degree) at the time of application
  • be aged 35 years or under at the time of application
  • not have already completed a master degree or previously studies overseas
  • be living and working in your home country.

Selection Criteria

The University will nominate eligible students to the ADB on the basis of following criteria:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with outstanding academic achievement.
  • Preference will be given to female candidates.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a lower financial capacity.
  • Applicants with less than two years of work experience will not be selected.

Application details

To be considered for this scholarship, you MUST:

  • Lodge an application for admission to one of the above degrees direct to the University, using the 'apply now' option within Find a course to take you to the Sydney Student portal where you apply and upload supporting documents.
  • The University of Sydney application processing fee (APF) will be waived if you upload your ADB-JSP Information Sheet.
  • Your ADB-JSP application will only be considered, if you receive an unconditional offer to one of the above degree programs prior to the ADB-JSP application deadline. If your entry is conditional on English language proficiency or academic documentation, you must provide all required documents before the ADB-JSP scholarship deadline.
  • Upload evidence of two (2) years work experience and your latest income tax return (an official letter from an employer may be accepted in cases where an income tax return is not available).

No applicant will be allowed to apply for the ADB-JSP scholarship more than three times. Previously unsuccessful applicants must wait one year before re-applying.

Shanghai Business Immersion Program Scholarship

The Shanghai Business Immersion Program Scholarship is available to students enrolled in the International Immersion in Business unit at the University of Sydney Business School. The scholarship is open to international students. 

To receive the Shanghai Business Immersion Program Scholarship, the student must:
 

  • be registered in a University of Sydney Business School undergraduate degree or undergraduate combined Commerce degree program and have completed a minimum of 48 credit points prior to going on placement;
  • have a minimum credit average;
  • be an outstanding ambassador for the Business School (evidence of this will be demonstrated through academic achievements).

Australia Awards Leadership Program (AALP)

The Australia Awards Leadership Program is supplementary to the Australia Awards Scholarship. It is offered to those who are identified as current and future leaders in their country and professional area. The Leadership Program offers leadership learning and development opportunities for awardees while they are in Australia undertaking postgraduate study. It is designed to motivate and inspire future leaders, develop individual leadership capabilities, and build enduring linkages and partnerships between developing countries and Australia.

University of Sydney International Scholarship (USydIS)

The University of Sydney invites candidates who are eligible to undertake a Postgraduate Research Degree or Master's by Research program at this University to apply for the University of Sydney International Research Scholarship (USydIS). 

The objective of the USydIS is to attract top quality international postgraduate students to undertake research projects which will enhance the University's research activities. The USydIS is open to all research disciplines; however participation in the USydIS program Research Period 2 and Research Period 3 are at the discretion of the Dean of each faculty. These Scholarships will be awarded in conjunction with the International RTP Fee Scholarship (formerly IPRS) for commencement in Research Period 2 (March), and in early April for commencement in Research Period 3 (July). 

Application details

The USydIS is available to students commencing in both the March (Research Period 2) and July (Research Period 3). We welcome scholarship applications throughout the year. Please note that it may take up to four months from submission of your application to receiving advice on whether you have been successful. There is no separate scholarship application form, to be considered for the scholarship you must submit an application for admission to your research degree.

To be considered for an University of Sydney International Scholarship (USydIS), a student must:

  • Read the selection process and Research Experience guide
  • Download and complete the Research Experience Evidence Template according to the guidelines in the Research Experience Guide
  • Prepare an application for admission to your degree (see guidelines)
  • Go to Sydney Courses and look up the research degree you applying for. Complete an application for admission for a research degree (e.g. Doctor of Philosophy).
  • In the application form for admission, when prompted, ensure you tick the relevant section on the admission form "Do you wish to be considered for an Research Training Program Fee Scholarship or University of Sydney International Scholarship (USydIS)?"
  • Upload all other required supporting and Faculty specific documentation for application for admission.
  • Submit your completed application form.

Please note: you MUST submit all required supporting and faculty specific documentation before your application is considered to be complete. For scholarship selection purposes, applicants must also submit Research Experience Evidence information.

The USydIS will cover tuition fees and living allowance for up to three years with a possibility of one semester's extension for PhD students.

Sydney University Sport and Fitness Scholarship

To be eligible for a SUSF scholarship, two main criteria (amongst others) apply:

  • Scholarship holders must be currently enrolled and actively studying at a recognised tertiary education institution (preferably The University of Sydney); and

  • Meet admission and language requirements.
  • Applicants commencing an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney Business School are eligible for this award. Students completing a University of Sydney Foundation Program with 90% overall average with admission to an undergraduate coursework program with the University of Sydney Business School are also eligible for this award.
  • Students who have already commenced tertiary study, or students transferring with credit exemptions or advanced standing, are not eligible.
