A new scholarship is being offered by the Faculty of Law to all eligible international students who are Malaysian, Singaporean or from South Asia (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka), and who are commencing the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice in semester 1, 2017.

Please note that if a student has already been offered a Tasmanian International 25% Scholarship, the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice Scholarship will not apply.

Application details

Students will automatically be assessed for this scholarship upon submission of their International Student Online Application. No separate application needs to be submitted. Successful applicants will be advised in their offer letter if they have been awarded the scholarship.

Bachelor of Laws Scholarships

Applicants are automatically assessed for this scholarship at the time of submitting their International Student Online Application.  Applicants can be awarded a TIS for all semester intakes.  Selection for this scholarship will be based on high achievement in studies at secondary, diploma and degree level courses.

Applicants will be notified in their Offer if they have been successful in being awarded a scholarship, provided final results have been submitted. Successful students will find the details and conditions of the scholarship within their TIS Scholarship Offer. Students should read their scholarship offer carefully. Please note that this scholarship is only available to commencing students. International Scholarships will not reassess current students based on their academic progress at UTAS.

To retain this award, recipients are required to maintain satisfactory progress for the duration of the course they have been awarded the scholarship.  A minimum of a Pass result in every unit is required to maintain satisfactory academic progress.  Examination results are reviewed each semester by the Scholarships Selection Committee to determine ongoing eligibility.  Recipients who do not meet ongoing eligibility will be notified by email.

Access, Participation and Partnerships Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS)

Eligibility requirements

Available to all commencing international students who submit an application to study the Foundation Studies Program leading to an undergraduate degree at the University of Tasmania. Applicants are automatically assessed for this scholarship. Selection for this scholarship will be based on sound achievement in previous secondary level courses with a minimum overall 'Distinction' average or equivalent for academic subjects undertaken within secondary school or equiv.

Applicants will be notified in their Offer if they have been successful in being awarded a TIS scholarship which will include a scholarship offer outlining the conditions that apply to the TIS award. Important: Applicants must accept their offer within 3 weeks from the date of issue in order to retain their scholarship. Students should read the conditions of their scholarship carefully. Please note that this scholarship is only available to commencing students. Current students will not be reassessed on the basis on their academic progress at UTAS.

Ongoing Eligibility

Examination results are reviewed each semester by the Scholarships Selection Committee to determine ongoing eligibility. Recipients who do not meet ongoing eligibility will be notified by email. Recipients must achieve a minimum overall Distinction level in the first semester of FSP to be eligible to receive the scholarship in their second semester.

TIS recipients will be reassessed for ongoing eligibility into their chosen degree based on their cumulative end of year FSP results.  Students that have achieved the required CGPA (cumulative grade point average) will be offered a TIS by the faculty with which they have an Offer of Enrolment and will be notified by email of their eligibility.

Recipients who are not successful in being awarded a TIS for their degree studies, will still be entitled to the FSP to degree 10% discount.

International Postgraduate Discount

This discount provides international students who have completed an undergraduate program at the University of Tasmania with a 10% discount on the registered tuition fees for enrolment in a postgraduate coursework program. The discount is available for all postgraduate coursework programs. Please note that if a student has already been offered a Tasmanian International Scholarship or the Family Alumni Bursary the International Postgraduate Discount will not apply.

University of Tasmania graduates applying for a postgraduate coursework program at UTAS will automatically be in receipt of the International Postgraduate Discount upon submission of their International Student Online Application.

Faculty of Arts Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS)

International Women in Maritime Engineering Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Undergraduate - Scholarships will be awarded to international female students who are eligible to commence one of the following programs in semester 1, 2017: Bachelor of Engineering (Marine & Offshore Engineering) (Honours), Bachelor of Engineering (Ocean Engineering) (Honours), or Bachelor of Engineering (Naval Architecture) (Honours). Students entering these programs with advanced standing will be considered on a case by case basis.

Postgraduate - Scholarships will be awarded to international female students who are eligible to commence the Master of Engineering (Maritime Design) 2 year program in semester 1 or 2, 2017. Not available to applicants entering with advanced standing.

Tasmanian School of Business and Economics (TSBE) Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS)

Applicants will be notified in their Offer Packs if they have been successful in being awarded a scholarship provided final results have been submitted. Successful students will, in addition, receive a scholarship offer outlining the details of their TIS including conditions. Students should read their scholarship offer carefully. Foundation Studies Program to Degree Discount

Eligibility requirements

This discount provides international students who have completed the University's Foundation Studies Program (FSP) with a 10% discount on the registered tuition fees for enrolment in their undergraduate coursework program. The discount is available for all undergraduate programs (including an Honours program if applicable). Please note that if a student has already been offered a Tasmanian International Scholarship, Kumar Sangakkara Scholarship or Sibling Discount, this FSP to Degree discount will not apply.

Please note that this discount will not apply to students who after completing FSP, chose to study at another institution and then return to UTAS at a later time.

Application details

Students applying for a FSP to degree package at UTAS will automatically be in receipt of the FSP to Degree Discount upon submission of their International Student Online Application. This discount will come into effect for the undergraduate program.

Faculty of Health Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS)

Eligibility requirements

Available to all commencing international students who submit an application to study one of the eligible programs offered by the Faculty of Health.

To be considered for a Faculty of Health TIS, applicants will require the equivalent to an 'A' average (80% overall) in their previous studies. Successful applicants must return their acceptance with payment by the date specified on their offer letter to retain the award. Applicants will be notified in their Offer of Enrolment if they have been successful in being awarded a scholarship, provided final results have been submitted. Successful students will find the details and conditions of the scholarship within their TIS Scholarship Offer. Students should read their scholarship offer carefully. Please note that this scholarship is only available to commencing students. Pharmacy Relocation Bursaries

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to receive the Pharmacy relocation bursary, students must be enrolled onshore in a full-time load per semester (e.g. 4 x 12.5% units or equiv) post census date for the first semester in which you commence studies (either semester 1 or semester 2).

Students completing an English Language UTASAccess program at the University of Tasmania directly prior to commencing their pharmacy program will in addition to the Pharmacy Relocation Bursary, also be eligible to receive a reimbursement of up to A$3,500 for their English language fees (excl FSP graduates or TIS recipients). The relocation bursary is not available to students completing the Foundation Studies Program or packaged combined degrees or Faculty of Arts programs as pathways into non-Faculty degrees.

Students who have been awarded the Tasmanian International Scholarship will not be eligible to qualify for relocation bursary.

Health Relocation Bursaries

Eligibility requirements

Students must be commencing Year 1 of their Bachelor of Health Science, Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine, or Bachelor of Exercise Science course and must be enrolled in a full-time load, equating to a minimum of four 12.5% units per semester post-census date to receive payment of the bursary.

To be eligible for the first payment, students must be enrolled past the semester 1 census date. To be eligible for the second and final payment, students must have successfully completed semester 1, 2017 of their course and be enrolled past census date for semester 2, otherwise they will not receive their second and final payment.

If a student has already accepted a scholarship from the University (e.g. the Tasmanian International Scholarship) they are not eligible to receive the relocation bursary.
