Faculty of Arts Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS)

Eligibility requirements

Available to all commencing international students who submit an application to study one of the eligible programs offered by the Faculty of Arts. Applicants can view a list of Faculty of Arts courses which are eligible for TIS.

Applicants are automatically assessed for this scholarship at the time of submitting their International Student Online Application. Applicants can be awarded TIS for all semester intakes.  Selection for this scholarship will be based on high achievement in studies at secondary, diploma and degree level courses.

Applicants will be notified in their Offer if they have been successful in being awarded a scholarship, provided final results have been submitted. Successful students will find the details and conditions of the scholarship within their TIS Scholarship Offer. Students should read their scholarship offer carefully. Please note that this scholarship is only available to commencing students. International Scholarships will not reassess current students based on their academic progress at UTAS.

Ongoing Eligibility

To retain this award, recipients are required to maintain satisfactory progress for the duration of the course they have been awarded the scholarship. A minimum of a Pass result in every unit is required to maintain satisfactory academic progress. Examination results are reviewed each semester by the Scholarships Selection Committee to determine ongoing eligibility. Recipients who do not meet ongoing eligibility will be notified by email.

Application details

As students are assessed automatically upon submission of their International Student Online Application, there is no need to apply separately, nor do recipients need to apply for ongoing eligibility.

Value details

25 percent reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of the course.

TAFE - UTAS Pathway Scholarships

Study level

Eligibility requirements

Available to international students undertaking either the Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Information Communication Technology articulation pathway from TAFE Tasmania to the University of Tasmania.

  • Applies to international students only;
  • Students must have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma at TasTAFE on-shore in Tasmania;
  • Not awarded for partially completed TasTAFE courses;
  • Students who have previously or are currently undertaking studies at UTAS and withdraw to take up the TasTAFE pathway offer are not eligible for this scholarship.

Please note that if a student has already been offered a Tasmanian International 25% Scholarship or any other 10% tuition fee scholarship or bursary the TAFE - UTAS Pathway Scholarship will not apply.

MITS Launceston Accommodation Bursary

Eligibility requirements

Available to international students who accept their offer to study on the Launceston campus in the Master of Information Technology and Systems (K7I) degree program in Semester 2, 2019.

Students must be enrolled in a full-time load per semester post-census date to receive the bursary and have applied for University accommodation (single accommodation only).

Accommodation is only available in the University's Kerslake, Leprena or Investigator Hall in Launceston. Rooms are assigned at the University's discretion and cannot be disputed.

Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS) recipients are still eligible to receive the Accommodation Bursary in Launceston.

Application details

International Students applying to study on the Launceston campus in the Master of Information Technology and Systems (K7I) program are assessed automatically upon submission of their International Student Application, there is no need to apply separately.

Value details

Singles only University accommodation in Launceston for 42 weeks to 2 years at 50% of the advertised rate.
