Brown and Gold Commitment for International Students

Eligibility requirements

The University of Wyoming is proud to offer the Brown and Gold Commitment to eligible international freshmen students. The Brown and Gold Commitment provides annual scholarship support to select new international freshmen students based on their incoming cumulative grade point average (GPA).

Initial Eligibility and Scholarship Compliance

The Brown and Gold Commitment is only available to first-time, entering international freshmen seeking their first bachelor's degree.

This scholarship is renewable for up to 8 semesters (4 academic years) or up to the first bachelor's degree whichever comes first.

Students must maintain full-time continuous enrollment in Laramie campus courses (12 semester hours) during the Fall and Spring semesters each year but is not available for use during the Summer semester.

Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA (evaluated at the end of each Spring semester).

Application details

To be considered for the Brown and Gold Commitment, international students must do the following by May 1st MDT for Fall Enrollment:

  • Apply for admission and submit the USD $40 admission application fee
  • Submit official high school/secondary school transcripts
  • Submit official TOEFL or IELTS scores
  • Submit a completed UW Confidential Financial Statement
  • Be admitted to UW

WUE Award

Eligibility requirements

The University of Wyoming will recognize non-resident graduating seniors as recipients of the highly competitive Western Undergraduate Exchange award. Recipients are evaluated on their academic excellence (unweighted high school GPA and test scores). 

The WUE Award program cannot be combined with the Brown and Gold Commitment.

WUE participating states include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
 

Application details

For WUE scholarship consideration, students must be residents of a WUE participating state* and have a completed admissions application (application, non-refundable USD $40 application fee, official transcripts, and ACT/SAT scores).

Value details

Pay tuition at 150 percent of the resident tuition, which is approximately USD $11,565 less than the standard non-resident tuition for students taking 15 credit hours per semester.

Children of UW Alumni Benefit

Eligibility requirements

This benefit is awarded for as long as the student is enrolled at UW, and applies to undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and professional work. Qualified students also receive this benefit for enrollment during summer sessions. There are no restrictions on the number of enrolled credit hours. 

Application details

To be considered, students should indicate on their admission application they are the child of a UW graduate.

To apply for the Child of Alumni discount, students must:

  • Apply for admission and submit the non-refundable $40 admission application fee
  • Be sure to provide alumni parent information requested on the admission application
  • Submit official high school and/or college transcripts
  • Submit official ACT/SAT test scores
  • Be admitted to UW
