One of the best

The undergraduate education at Mudd is undoubtedly one of the best programs in the country. If you're going to school purely for the academics and the education, I can't think of a better place.

Mudd is demanding

My experience has been that Mudd asks a lot, but makes a sincere effort to help students who are struggling (through standard programs like free peer tutoring).

If you are studying right now or you have completed your studies, then help future students by sharing your experiences.

About the accommodation

HMC students live on campus in the eight residence halls. While upper class students are freely able to live off campus, the fact that about 99 percent of students choose to remain on campus is remarkable. Students say they like living on campus for the proximity of fellow students for questions on class work, the opportunity to run over to computer labs and classrooms at all hours of the day or night, the high-speed Ethernet connections in every student room and the convenience of rolling out of bed and getting to class or the dining hall in less than five minutes. Naturally, they also like the ability to socialize with fellow students when it’s time for a break. Most of Mudd's residence halls have been renovated within the last few years. This includes new paint, carpet and furniture, as well as upgrades in electrical systems and installation of wireless computer network connections. Each spring, upper class students choose their rooms in room draw for the following fall. Space is reserved for first-year students in all eight of the residence halls. The quad dorms include North, South, East and West dorms. Officially, East is Mildred E. Mudd Hall and South is David X. Marks Hall, but very few students refer to them as such. The directional designations have grown organically with the College and bear little resemblance to actual compass directions. The outer dorms include Atwood, Case, Linde and Sontag. These residence halls were constructed more recently than the Quad and have differing architectural features. Atwood has three floors with four large suites on each. The suites each have two doubles, one triple, and four single rooms sharing two bathrooms and a living room. In addition, there are six double rooms with efficiency kitchens, as well as three sets of two "column" doubles connected by a narrow corridor. Case is divided into four “Ls” of about 30 people thereby encouraging interaction with a larger group of students than the 11 person Atwood suites.
