Students who need financial support during their time at Miami University or who simply want to keep the cost of tuition down, can apply for various scholarships to ease the burden. All students who apply for admission at the Oxford campus are automatically considered for a merit-based scholarship awarded to first-year students, provided they apply before the set deadline.
Scholarships are generally awarded based on certain criteria, including academic excellence, sporting ability, or other gifts, talents, or career aspirations. Dedicated scholarships for international students ensure that all applicants, regardless of their home country, are considered for international scholarships. Again, all first-year students who apply and meet the requirements for full admission are automatically considered, although separate applications are required for certain programs including the Presidential Fellows Program and the #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship. All students who apply to Miami University must meet certain criteria. For international applicants, this includes the provision of all academic records from secondary school studies (or equivalent), with proof of high school graduation required for acceptance.
Students must also pay a non-refundable USD 70 application fee, and submit a letter of recommendation that can support an application.
Students applying for a full degree must also demonstrate proficiency in the English language, as all course materials are provided in English. Various qualifications are accepted - as a guide, an average of 6.5 IELTS score is needed for direct admission, with a score of 5 acceptable for conditional admission on certain programs.
Alternative conditional applications are available for students as part of an ESL study program, where students combine English language skills with foundation level work to gain entry into an undergraduate program upon completion.
Any international students applying to Miami University must also demonstrate that they have the necessary funds to pay for one full year of full-time tuition and living costs - students who plan to enroll full time must provide financial verification indicating a balance of at least USD 58,664.
