Overview

Minnesota State University Mankato was established in 1868 as Mankato Normal School, the state's second teacher training school. Today, Minnesota State Mankato has grown to be a doctoral institution and is striving to become an increasingly inclusive and welcoming campus. The university offers students over 130 programs from six undergraduate colleges. Minnesota State Mankato also has a well-deserved reputation for breakthrough research. More than 85 master's, advanced certificate, and doctoral programs are offered by The College of Graduate Studies and Research. Student life at the university revolves around more than 200 recognized department clubs, recreation clubs, social clubs, and service and religious organizations.
