In early 2022, NYU will welcome 181 Mercer Street to its Campus Without Walls. This new multi-use building features 58 new classrooms, a 350-seat theater, state-of-the-art performing arts training and practice space, a modern athletic facility, student and faculty housing, and more. Built with the highest sustainability considerations, 181 Mercer Street will include nearly 7,500 square feet of common space — like green roofs, light-filled atriums, and a street-level cafe — to encourage interactions between students and faculty, athletes and artists, residents, and audience members.
In 2020, NYU doubled the size of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholars Program, which recognizes and provides financial support to students with a commitment to Dr. King’s legacy of social justice and change. The expansion of the program results in more scholarship funding, increased student support, new programming opportunities, and new joint leadership from the Offices of Global Inclusion and Enrollment Management. Additionally, MLK Scholars are given the opportunity in their first year to travel abroad with their cohort on a fully-funded trip to an international destination related to their research in the MLK Seminar Course.
