About the accommodation

Life in a residence hall is convenient. The amenities include wireless Internet; dining plans included in residence hall contracts; special interest academic communities; free bus service to student?s classes; specialty equipment like pianos and art equipment; residence hall assistants; intramural sports teams; and nighttime security rounds, 24-hour staffed front desks, and 24-hour card swipe entry. KU operates two apartment complexes: Jayhawker Towers, for single students, and Stouffer Place, for students with families. Both provide greater privacy than other KU housing and offer the benefit of being on campus. Jayhawker Towers amenities include wireless Internet, on-site staff, KU Card-operated laundry, optional meal plans, and rental furniture packages. Stouffer Place offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments for graduate students, couples and students with children, postdoctoral researchers, and nontraditional students. Residence hall, private room with bath, suite with semi-private bath, scholarship hall, or on-campus apartment. Ellsworth residence hall and the two new buildings are for freshman only. The prohibited items to the halls are toasters, toaster ovens, hot plates, electric pans, george forman grills, or appliances with exposed heating element; halogen lamps; candles or incense; pets except for fish; alcohol or alcohol containers, including shot glasses; weapons or weapon parts; and amplifiers. Residence hall students will receive mailings about renting or buying an optional microfridge, a loft system for the bed and extra-long bed linens.
