Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Established in 1865, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) was among the earliest engineering and technology universities in the U.S. Projects form the core of a WPI education, and the university’s signature project-based approach to a STEM undergraduate education, known as the WPI Plan, is instrumental in readying students for the future. Learning at WPI has always been about a blend of theory and practice. The university’s 18 academic departments offer students 70-plus undergraduate and graduate degree programs in science, engineering, technology, business and management, the social sciences, and the humanities and arts.
