International students in Germany can now work more hours
From this month, employment rules for international students in Germany have been relaxed, allowing them to work for up to 20 hours each week. Previously, working time was capped at 10 hours per week. The rule change applies not only to current students – including those undertaking vocational training and language courses – but also to prospective ones who are in the country while seeking somewhere to study.
Germany has a record number of international students
A record total of 367,578 international students were enrolled on university courses in Germany at the start of the 2022/23 academic year, according to the country's Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). This is an increase from the former high of 349,438, recorded in the previous year. India provided the largest group by nationality (42,600), taking the place of China, which now has the second-largest group (39,100).

Germany has opened its borders to travellers from certain countries outside the EU including Australia, USA, Japan, and South Korea. You must be fully-vaccinated within 14 days of arrival into Germany, have received an approved vaccine, and can show a negative Covid test before departure.
