Love is a Verb – do something meaningful this Christmas!

Love is a Verb

Christmas is only 8 days away, and I bet you are busy running from mall to malls to find the perfect Christmas gift for your loved ones. This Christmas, instead of only buying gifts for those you know – why don’t you buy a gift for someone whom you have never met before by participating in event called ‘Love Is A Verb’? J

“Love is a Verb” is an annual event organized by a not-for-profit organization – CityCare which aims “to promote active citizenry by providing volunteering opportunities for organizations and individuals to genuinely care and demonstrate social responsibility towards the good of the community” in partnership with the State Assemblyman of Subang Jaya, YB Hannah Yeoh, and Sunway Pyramid.

This event is organized to bring cheer to the Under Privileged Children and OKU (Orang Kurang Upaya, otherwise known as the disabled people) community. At the “Love is a Verb” booth, there are Christmas trees bearing the Christmas wish of the underprivileged children and the disabled people.

I have personally participated in this event before by volunteering to mend the booth at Sunway Pyramid a year back – and it was one of my best Christmas experiences. Many people label Christmas as a ‘season of giving’. This tagline is nice to hear, but even nicer to actually live it out. Seeing shoppers put aside their personal agendas for a few hours to make other people’s wishes come true was truly a priceless sight.

You too, can be a part of this meaningful event! Read on to find all the details.

How to participate?

Very simple! Just visit the “Love is a Verb” booth and speak to one of CityCare’s friendly volunteers. Take a look at the wish lists hung on the Christmas trees, pick one wish which you want to fulfill (with a maximum budget of RM100), and begin your Christmas shopping! Once you are done just pass the gift back to the volunteers at the booth. It’s just as simple as that!

Note: you can always fulfill more than one wish!

When?

4th-19th December 2012
10:00am – 10:00pm

Want to do something meaningful this Christmas, just head to Sunway Pyramid. The last day for this event is on the 19th of December 2012, Wednesday and it ends at 10pm.

On Christmas day (25th Dec 2012), “Love is a Verb” will have its finale at Sunway Pyramid’s main concourse where all the OKU friends are going to be treated a Christmas lunch along with various performances and gift giving to spread the Christmas joy around.
