
Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) has successfully hosted the “Design Preview: Love Your Creativity!” which attracted many students and parents who wished to explore the career opportunities in the creative fields. Professor Michael Gunn, Vice Chancellor of Staffordshire University, UK, officiated the event together with Datuk Dr Parmjit Singh, CEO of APIIT Education Group and Professor Ron Edwards, Deputy Vice Chancellor of APU.

The main objectives were to provide a general overview of the design, animation and media industry in line with the launch of the new courses at APIIT. They are BA (Hons) Animation, BA (Hons) Product Design, BA (Hons) VFX: Visual Effects and Concept Design and BA (Hons) Advertising and Brand Management. Several industry experts from the design and animation industry also attended the event and they were officially appointed as members of the Industry Advisory Panel (IAP), in which they will provide support in the areas of curriculum development as well as internship and job opportunities.
Azim Hulaimi, alumni of APIIT, shared his valuable experience in the Animation and Visual Effects industry.
Students and parents who wished to know more about the newly launched courses attended the event.
Azim Hulaimi, APIIT’s alumni who is currently the co-founder of MIRA Digital shared his experience as a student who transformed into an all-rounded animation and multimedia artist in Malaysia. Gerard Peters from Pixelpost Sdn Bhd also took the opportunity to discuss about the current needs of the design, animation and visual effects industry.
A Design Thinking workshop also took place to help participants to understand more about the stages of production and to learn how to make clay sculptures. Prizes were given to the best designs and the participants could take their art creations home, together with an instant photo.
Students were given the opportunity to participate in the hands-on workshop.
The new courses in the Design, Animation and VFX fields are offered directly by APU and APIIT Education Group’s longest standing partner, Staffordshire University UK.
