Curtin University is enhancing its campus and community presence through the Exchange precinct project. This project focuses on bringing together industry, education, and community, facilitating and encouraging the sharing of ideas, creativity, and knowledge and serves as a catalyst for progress and innovation. It provides an excellent opportunity for students to develop and refine their skills as well as benefit from an enhanced academic experience.
The precinct will feature modern student accommodation, a new facility for Curtin’s School of Design and the Built Environment, apartments, a boutique hotel, speciality retail shops, and commercial space for industry partners. Students and the wider university community will benefit greatly from the developments, adding to the energy and dynamism of the institution. It is due to officially to open by January 2022.
At Curtin, teaching is personalised and informative with accomplished academic mentors, making for an excellent learning experience and students enjoy access to high-tech facilities. The university’s teaching quality is recognised with a five-star ranking for overall experience, skills development, teaching quality and learner engagement in the Good Universities Guide 2019.
Teaching methods and interactive facilities help students gain critical and practical thinking skills. The university uses a ‘flipped classroom’ approach, where students collaborate with their peers to discuss and debate issues, and solve problems guided by mentors and advisors.
Classroom learning is industry relevant, enabling students to what they learn to real industry projects. The centre covers the rich and diverse cultural history of Indigenous Australian people, and the political and social issues that affect them. Through its study options at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, it helps towards making a positive social change for Aboriginal Australians.

The faculty helps students apply what they learn to real industry challenges and offers them high-impact research opportunities. It houses sophisticated and stimulating learning environments with purpose-built facilities, such as the AUD 116 million Resources and Chemistry Precinct, that focuses on group collaboration, problem-based learning, and sharing ideas with industry.
All international applicants are required to have a recognised English language qualification such as IELTS or equivalent.
For most undergraduate courses, students need the equivalent of IELTS 6.5 overall and a minimum of 6.0 in each band. Some courses require a lower or higher level of English.

Students who haven’t meet the university’s minimum entry requirements may study at Curtin English, Curtin College or both. These are pathways with different levels to help students progress to study options at Curtin in the undergraduate or postgraduate levels. Curtin English and Curtin College are based in Curtin Perth and enjoys access to the Curtin’s facilities and support services.
Technology-rich learning environments recreate real workplaces to enhance students’ studies and give them the practical experience they need before they graduate.
Students can interact with 3D virtual worlds and panoramas in The HIVE (Hub for Immersive Visualisation and e-Research). It’s a quantum leap in the presentation and analysis of complex data.
The library has remained one of the most important buildings at Curtin, with much of the traditional library now replaced by technology-rich, café-style environments. On level 2, the iZone has computers with touchscreens, Bluetooth and webcam capabilities, whiteboards, graphics workstations and charging facilities for devices. Sleep pods are installed on level three, giving students the opportunity for a 20-minute power nap.
Recreating the environment of a large hospital in Perth in amazing detail, the simulated hospital ward supports virtual and augmented realities, with anatomage tables and full-body computerised mannikins with life-like features.
Simulating a real-life business environment with 20 Bloomberg Professional licences and Wall Street-inspired terminals, the Trading Room buzzes with activity.
There is a sense of community both in and out of the classroom, with new collaborative learning spaces replacing traditional classrooms, and outdoor leisure areas with bean bags, hammocks, outdoor games and food trucks to enjoy in-between classes.
Curtin Stadium is the home of sport, fitness, recreation and events on campus, with a main gym, women’s gym, large group fitness area, indoor cycling studio, sports hall and multi-purpose courts available for hire. There are many registered and affiliated sports clubs catering for all levels of skill and experience, allowing students to participate whether they are new to sport or aim to compete at an elite level.
The 2019 Curtin International Scholarships are open to future students seeking to study a Curtin bachelor or master by coursework degree and current Curtin students intending to move to a new course of study after completing their current course.
Scholarship recipients will receive financial assistance amounting to up to 25 per cent of first-year tuition fees. Additionally, eligible students who enrol in a Curtin English ELB (English Language Bridging) program before undertaking their study at Curtin will receive a 10 per cent discount on their fees.
This scholarship is for students who can demonstrate close personal ties to Curtin University. For example, students must present evidence that they, their sibling, half-sibling, parent or child are members of Curtin Alumni or are currently enrolled students. This scholarship awards eligible students 25 per cent of their first year of tuition.
This scholarship is for high-achieving students from Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Kenya, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The scholarship awards eligible students 25 per cent of their first year of tuition.
Students may also be eligible to apply for Australia Awards Scholarships and Australia Awards Fellowships and Endeavour Scholarships, which are funded by the Australian Federal Government.
