Federation University is launching the Master of Public Health program in 2021.
Through this program, students will learn how to become public health research leaders, influence health systems and the global population. It helps enhance the skills of professionals from multidisciplinary backgrounds to be able to pursue a career in public health.
During the first year, students will develop a conceptual understanding of the subject, and in the second year, students can take up one of the program’s five specialisations.
Students can conduct research on an area relevant to public health under the mentorship of a supervisor. Or have the opportunity to develop knowledge on the design and implementation of public health projects, learn more about the application of data and technology for public health practice, analyse healthcare costs, cost effectiveness and health economics or explore human experiences in healthcare settings through the health system management specialisation.
Throughout the program, students will receive personalised support catered to their needs. The program has a mix of face-to-face workshops along with online modules. When students are working on their thesis in the second year, the academic supervisor will check with them regularly to ensure they are on track.
To be eligible for this program, international students must have successfully completed a recognised three-year Australian bachelor’s degree or overseas equivalent and satisfied the English language requirements (IELTS with overall score of 6.5, with no bands less than 6.0, or equivalent).
The lead coordinator for this program, Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Aziz Rahman, has over 15 years of experience in public health teaching and research.

The university’s Global Innovator Scholarship is available to new international students who are commencing undergraduate study or postgraduate coursework in the year 2021. The scholarship covers 20 per cent of tuition fees (AUD 9,000 to AUD 26,000) for the full duration of study. No separate application is necessary, students will automatically be assessed with their study application.
New international students who are outstanding in their academics can avail Federation University’s Global Excellence scholarship. Students will be awarded a 25 per cent tuition fee scholarship (AUD 11,000 to AUD 32,500) for the full duration of their study. No separate application is necessary, students will automatically be assessed with their study application.
International students can also apply for the accommodation support scholarship that rewards up to AUD 2,000 per semester.
