Ten reasons to study at TAFE Queensland
As one of Australia’s largest education providers, TAFE Queensland offers more than 180 courses in 15 fields of study – ranging from healthcare to hairdressing. Students can choose their preferred method of learning to suit their educational needs such as online, classroom or print based. Courses are practical, tailored to reflect industry practice, and are taught by experienced teachers who can provide first-hand industry insights. The institution teaches more than 120,000 students both domestically and internationally, with overseas students enrolling from more than 90 countries.
At TAFE Queensland, students have plenty of choice when deciding where to study as there are more than 50 campus locations in the regions of Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Cairns, Townsville and Toowoomba.

Grant Volrath, who hails from the United Kingdom, has won Study Queensland’s VET Student of the Year.
Grant trained at the Bundaberg campus of TAFE Queensland and has finished two certificate programmes - a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology as well as a Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Overhauling.
He is known for sharing his knowledge with, as well as mentoring, his fellow students, and also for helping his fellow international students to feel comfortable and settle into the region.
Two of TAFE Queensland’s students pursuing hospitality in Cairns, Alec Stemmler and Anne (Hyemin) Park recently travelled to Tokyo (Japan) for a unique opportunity to work at La Rochelle, which is an award-winning restaurant of Iron Chef Sakai, as interns.
The students worked with sous chefs and experienced executives at the restaurant and were awarded the experience as they had won a competition hosted by TAFE Queensland.

There are more than 180 courses available across 15 areas of study for students to choose from.
Its courses are assessed in various ways. Throughout their course, students may complete a variety of tasks including class work, assignments, practical components and project work. They may be assessed using a combination of these tasks, continuous assessment and examinations. Assessment may be based on competency, marks and grades, or a combination of both.
International students require a minimum level of English language proficiency, which is necessary to study at TAFE Queensland.

International students whose first language is not English must obtain the following minimum scores:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: Overall score of 5.5 (with no score lesser than 5.0).
IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.5 (with no score lesser than 6.0).
Many programmes as well as certain nationalities may need higher IELTS (Academic) when compared with the minimum score of IELTS 5.5 and/or comprise of specific sub-score requirements.
Applicants must at least meet one of the several English language entry requirements.
Students who don't meet any listed requirements may enrol in one of the intensive English language training programmes prior to pursuing their degree programme.
Students who wish to study at TAFE Queensland must first check the necessary documents as well as evidence they need to provide.
They must then check:
Students must prepare their certified supporting documents. They must also submit their application and supporting documents through the online application portal, or they must submit their application through one of TAFE Queensland’s registered agents.
Once the students receive their letter of offer, they must accept and pay for their offer. Students must then receive their Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE - required for lodging a visa application).
They must then apply for their visa. Applicants for an international student visa, who are under 18 years of age will be accepted by TAFE Queensland if they establish with certainty that they will be accompanied by a legal custodian, parent, or a suitable relative whose age is 21 years or above.
