There's been an increase in international students from across the world making the University of Adelaide their choice of university for 2019.
The most recent data reveals a 6% growth in all of the students’ preferences for undergraduate study offered at the university. This also includes a 2% increase in the first preferences.
The number of international students is about to attain record levels this year at the University– with over 10,000 international students from all year levels selecting to study at Adelaide.
"At the same time as experiencing an increase in interest from domestic students, we're seeing large numbers of international students wanting to study here at the University of Adelaide. A record number of 10,000 international students will study at our University this year, which speaks volumes about the global reputation of the University of Adelaide and helps to confirm our status as the truly global university for South Australia,” said Professor Pascale Quester, acting Vice-Chancellor.
The University of Adelaide is one of the members of the esteemed ‘Group of Eight’ that comprises of the leading research-intensive universities in Australia. The University is among the world’s premier institutions of innovation and learning.
The University is rated consistently high by some of the respected international assessment bodies, including Times Higher Education, QS World University Rankings, and Shanghai Jiao Tong’s Academic Rankings of World Universities (ARWU). All of these rankings indicate that the University belongs to top 1% of the world’s universities.
A vast majority of the University’s research, assessed by the Australian Research Council’s Excellence in Research Australia programme, is rated ‘above or well above world standard’. The Faculty of Arts offers degrees in arts, humanities and social sciences. It equips students with the necessary tools and knowledge to have a real impact on the world. The faculty offers programmes across its seven schools and degrees obtained from the faculty will allow students to work in a number of industries.
Students can take advantage of the unique location of the Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences building situated adjacent to the new Royal Adelaide Hospital. The faculty offers degrees in dentistry, medicine and surgery, health and medical sciences, nursing, public health, counselling psychology, psychotherapy, and addiction studies.

Each undergraduate programme has minimum entry requirements that students need to have completed successfully. Some programmes like music, oral health, medicine, and dentistry consider other selection criteria in addition to the minimum entry requirements.
Students who wish to pursue a postgraduate coursework programme require a bachelor degree or its equivalent qualification offered by an approved institution. Some graduate diplomas and graduate certificates may also be accepted as work that qualifies for pursuing a master degree.
The careers service at the University of Adelaide equips students with skills in career management which will help them to compete in the international marketplace.
The careers service also provides a wide range of resources and workshops to help the students with their job applications and interviews. This includes preparing a resume which articulates the students’ experience and a cover letter that highlights their main achievements.
The University of Adelaide also helps students prepare for their interview, by conducting regular workshops. The University offers an online interview tool which helps them to experience a real video interview.
The University’s careers service is free and is available to all of its current students as well as recent graduates for about one year after they complete their education.

The University will match the scholarship offers the students may have from higher education institutions other than the University of Adelaide, and provides a tuition fee reduction of approximately 15%. Students who apply for this scholarship can be citizens of any nation other than Australia and New Zealand. They must also hold valid scholarships from another university to pursue their education in a similar study area to the one they intend to pursue at the University of Adelaide.
These scholarships reward international students who start their education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University. The scholarship provides a tuition fee reduction of 15% for the minimal standard duration of the students’ chosen degree in undergraduate or postgraduate levels.
These scholarships offered by the University are highly competitive awards which reward international students who are beginning to pursue their undergraduate and postgraduate coursework, and have demonstrated their academic excellence. The scholarship provides a 50% reduction of the tuition fee and is automatically awarded.
