Alexander College - A quick glance
Established in 2006, Alexander College is a private degree-granting post-secondary institution located in British Columbia, Canada with two urban campuses in the cities of Vancouver and Burnaby. Alexander College is home to approximately 4,000 international and domestic students annually.
As one of Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) in Canada, Alexander College offers a variety of undergraduate degree and transfer programs including University Transfer, and Associate Degree Programs. An integrated English for Academic Purposes program is also available to assist non-native English speakers with their transition to university level studies in the English language.
Alexander College strives to provide high-quality higher education at a reasonable cost and is committed to providing a truly international learning experience for students from Canada and around the world. Students thrive in an inclusive and supportive environment, acquiring skills, knowledge, and experiences which develops them into global citizens.
Alexander College is rapidly expanding, and the institution has added many new students over the past year. Alexander College is also currently undergoing a campus move as the institution expands to meet the needs of the growing student body, increasing the physical space of the primary facility by more than double the current capacity. This means new labs, new library facilities and new student spaces among many other upgrades to the facilities and infrastructure.
There has also been the addition of an Athletics unit at Alexander College, with the AC Explorers team competing against other local colleges in basketball and soccer, with more sports to be added.
Campus culture has also been invigorated by more off-site multicultural events held at various halls and community centers, including Diwali and Lunar New Year celebrations, which often attract hundreds of student attendees.
Social Media plays an important role in the overall college experience for students at Alexander College. Students can use the Alexander College Social Media pages to keep up to date with important AC campus announcements such as registration deadlines, new courses, campus closures, important dates, contests and student events.
Alexander College is committed to ensuring that all members of the college community including students, faculty, staff, and visitors are able to study and work in an environment of tolerance and mutual respect. The college recognizes the importance of small class sizes and high-quality teaching for the academic preparation of its students. With increased personalized attention given by faculty to students and regular access to academic expertise, the learning outcomes for students are significantly enhanced.
Faculty are encouraged to utilize the Centre for Teaching and Learning, through which they develop innovative teaching strategies and resources. Students are also invited to share their feedback on teaching quality and classroom experience via course evaluations performed at the end of every course.
Alexander College tracks graduate outcomes through maintaining positive relationships with its alumni. In re-connecting with students after they have completed their degree program (or after having transferred to a different institution), the college is able to demonstrate to current students the achievements and positive outcomes that can be achieved.
Many of graduates of the institution go on to become vital parts of the communities they choose to live and work in, and career paths vary in tandem with the wide variety of course offerings.
The college invites its students who have gone on to start businesses, pursue graduate studies elsewhere, or who have made an impact in local organizations and the community to come back for networking events to inspire current students.
In order to even further increase these connections, the college is developing co-op programming to facilitate the easy transition of students into the business community, creating collaborations and fostering the transition of educational theory into professional practice.
