At Carleton University, there are hundreds of ways for students to get involved and make the most of their university experience. There are a rich variety of services available to support all interests and needs.
Support for international students
Carleton offers services and programs dedicated to helping international and exchange students make the most of their university experience in Canada. This includes advice on immigration, study permits, health insurance, working in Canada, budgeting and homesickness.
Academic support
Carleton University offers a variety of services designed to support students improve learning both inside and outside the classroom. Students can access peer-led study sessions as well as workshops on academic writing, time management, note-taking, and exam-preparation to name a few.
Work-study opportunities and support
The co-op team supports students with their job search, helps with the hiring process, and develops connections with potential employers. In addition to co-op, many programs also include work integrated learning opportunities like practicums, field placements, field courses, apprenticeships and research placements.
Career services
Career coaches, consultants and counsellors help students explore their talents, interests and skills, and align their degree with a career. They also assist with resume and cover letter reviews and job search strategies.
Healthcare
Students can access medical services, counselling, and health promotion programs provided by the health and wellness center on campus. Students living in residence can also access short-term confidential counseling within their residence complex to help with issues such as coping with stress, homesickness, self-esteem and more.
Fitness and athletics
Students can sign up for one of over 120 fitness classes, or make use of Carleton’s extensive facilities including a swimming pool, squash courts, a fitness centre, and an indoor sports field with running track.
