Humber College’s excellent teaching standards and high rates of alumni employability mean that not every applicant will be accepted when they apply, even if they meet the minimum university entry requirements. The acceptance rate is around 70 per cent.

Every student who wants to come to Humber will need to meet the specific entry requirements of the courses they’re interested in. This information can also be found on the Humber website. There will also be some general university requirements for admission, most primarily that every applicant has the right level of pre-university education (or the right university qualifications if they’re a postgraduate applicant).
Since all programmes at Humber College are taught in English, a certain level of understanding of the language is necessary to be admitted into the university. If an applicant’s first language is anything other than English, and if their previous education was taught in another language, they need to demonstrate their understanding with a test like one of the following:
There are other accepted testing options, and a full list is available on the Humber College website. There’s also an English for Academic Services Programme (EAP) provided by the college. Certain programmes will have different English requirements, so students should do their research to make sure they know exactly what they need to score.
Humber College is a competitive institution and admission isn’t guaranteed. The student admission process begins when potential students choose the courses and programmes that interest them and make sure they meet the relevant requirements. Some programmes will also ask for extra documents, like a writing sample or a portfolio of work. This is more common for postgraduate applications. All programmes will ask applicants to share proof of their academic achievements, including things like transcripts and a letter naming their education completion date (if they’re still in active education at the time they apply).
Once everything that needs to be submitted has been, the university admission team will review the application and send any successful applicants an offer letter inviting them to come to Humber College. At this stage, and before enrolment, tuition fees will need to be paid.
Tuition fees for international students will vary depending on the applicant’s area of study, but Humber has simplified things by creating fee groupings (these are figures from 2018-19, but should still give students an idea of the different price levels):
Students are offered a few different types of financial aid and funding support to make sure that nobody at Humber College is excluded or academically disadvantaged for struggling with their fees. International students are no exception.
Humber offers International Entrance Scholarships to domestic and international students. These university scholarships are equal in value to CAD 2,000 taken off the overall cost of tuition, and they are given to hard-working and dedicated students who share Humber College’s love of always learning, growing and developing.
International Entrance Scholarships are open to students with a GPA of 85 per cent or higher and a minimum IELTS overall band score of 6.5 (or the equivalent). A total of 10 undergraduates and 10 postgraduates are selected to be awarded each semester.
There’s also a Bachelor’s Degree Scholarship that rewards academic achievement. There are an unlimited number of these scholarships, but their value changes with student GPAs (the higher the GPA, the higher the amount received, between around CAD 1,500 and CAD 4,000 in value).
Students with a GPA of 80 per cent or higher can renew this scholarship each year of their study, but students with a GPA between 75 and 79.9 per cent can only claim this scholarship once.
There’s also a Bill 7 Award given to students living in Ontario who have a financial need and identify as members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Overall, there are lots of scholarships, awards and bursaries that international students can benefit from if they need funding help, including awards specific to certain courses. Students are encouraged to explore any awards/options they might be eligible for.
There are two main Humber College campuses and a smaller graduate school. North Campus is the largest of the Humber sites, right on the Toronto public transport line. Though it’s easy to reach, there’s still a lot of nature to enjoy and feel inspired by at North Campus. It’s an ideal mix of green space and modern campus life full of amenities.
The other campus, Lakeshore Campus, is near Lake Ontario and has 10,000 full-time students. Again, nature is a feature, and the facilities are high quality and modern. Lakeshore Campus is where students will find the Longo Faculty of Business and its unique learning spaces (like a simulated trading floor).

On campuses as exciting as Humber College’s, great learning facilities, fun areas to socialise and perfect opportunities to network are all available. The North Campus is home to over 19,000 students. All these students enjoy North Campus’s great facilities, from the lecture theatres to the modern-equipment-filled student recreation centres. There are also lots of good food options, including a pub and a fine dining restaurant staffed by Humber students.
Lakeshore also has some great learning facilities and student activity centres. Across both campuses, there are gyms (free to all students), indoor pools, spin studios and sports courts. At Lakeshore, there are well-designed laboratories and study spaces like the Study Commons to enjoy. There are also unique learning technologies available — one building has a ‘conflict resolution simulator’.
Humber’s libraries are another kind of student life centre, perfect for studying and learning alone, working on group projects and seeking academic support. Both libraries have bookable study rooms to allow students to work in private, as well as plenty of computers and research help desks where people can seek guidance on their research-based assignments.
Finally, both campuses have amazing auditoriums, lecture theatres and classrooms. Some spaces have room for hundreds of people, and some spaces are better suited to small class sizes and open, collaborative work. There’s no useful facility or amenity that a student can’t find at one of Humber’s great campus locations.
The excellent facilities for students don’t stop with university accommodation. There are three residence buildings available for on-campus living at Humber College. Two of them are on the North Campus, and one is on Lakeshore Campus.
The Lakeshore Campus residence building is filled with student accommodation suites. There are 213 suites, enough for 425 residents. The North Campus residence buildings have suite-style and traditional single-room-style accommodation options. There are 143 suite-style spots for a total of 286 residents, and returning students are normally given priority for these suites.
Suites are perfect for students who want a university roommate and the chance to build a friendship. Two bedrooms and a shared kitchenette and washroom create a good mix of communal and private spaces. Single rooms are less communal and more private, but there are still shared lounge spaces in the residential buildings that will allow students in single rooms to socialise, and those in single rooms will also have access to centrally located washrooms on each floor.
Though on-campus living comes with lots of helpful amenities, some students will prefer off-campus housing. International students might view living in the exciting city of Toronto as a chance to become fully involved in Canada’s culture, and they can do this in a studio apartment, a shared student house or via a student Homestay programme.
In a Homestay programme, an international student is assigned a host family to live with. There are plenty of rental opportunities in the area too, so it all depends on the preferences of the individual student.
Humber College has lots of student support services, which are high-quality and easy to access. The university understands that problems can happen and that these problems can interfere with a student’s education. This is especially true for international students enrolled in a new country and handling anything that goes wrong without support structures nearby.
So, Humber offers lots of student services and gives people lots of places to turn. For example, there are dedicated International Student Advisors available to talk through any personal or academic issues. International students should think of an Advisor as a student guide, there to help them settle in/solve problems/achieve academic success.
Students can also sign up for one-to-one peer tutoring if they’re struggling academically or for emotional counselling and mental health support if they’re struggling internally — maybe with academic demands or maybe with something that’s happening outside of the university.
Physical health matters at Humber College. Mental health matters at Humber College. There’s a full Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre to meet these kinds of needs. Whether a student wants academic advice, career guidance, counselling, or mentoring, they’ll find the student support programme at Humber contains all of these options and more.
Humber offers all enrolled students some fantastic opportunities to improve their job prospects and access their dream careers. There are a lot of different pathways and career guide resources available, and most programmes can be tailored to include things like work-study and professional development.
It’s a big focus for Humber that all of its graduates should be very well-prepared for work. So, the university offers students a lot of career services and employment services to help them keep moving in the right direction. The professors were all awesome, so well educated, many professors have PhDs, master's degrees, and of course bachelor's degrees. The best thing also is that the college is very resourceful and has the services required for student success! Services range from counselling services to social worker help and more. Professors were also very engaging and very professional. My cybersecurity professor was a licensed engineer and has his PMP certification, stating he is a licensed Project Manager. I love the facilities the colllege offers as well. My program is a security program which trains you to become a security professional in a large corporation or to work in public safety like intelligence, crime analysis, risk management, and more. The college has a separate building dedicated to the colleges law programs. Known as the Humber Centre for Justice Leadership. They have real forensic labs, crime scene labs, physical security system labs, etc. Both campuses are well landscaped and run, security staff are there 24/7 to help, there is an app called the Humber Guardian which is meant to connect students, faculty, etc to security services quickly and it is very convenient.
