First founded in 2002, the University of Guelph-Humber is a unique partnership between two high-quality institutions - the University of Guelph and the Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.
Students are able to choose from seven different undergraduate programs, and upon completion will earn both a four-year honour’s degree from the University of Guelph, but also a diploma from Humber College, with both qualifications helping to boost students’ prospects in their forthcoming careers.
All programs have a required work placement component that allow students to practice what they have learnt in the classroom in the real work setting. The University of Guelph-Humber is located in Toronto, one of the world’s most diverse cities, providing students with many opportunities for unique and interesting placements.
With a close-knit community of approximately 5,000students, the average class size is only 49 students. This allows for students and faculty to interact, contributing to a supportive and collaborative setting. This collaboration extends to working partnerships, as students are able to take on roles as paid research assistants to help faculty complete exciting projects, and to further enhance their own employability prospects. The many opportunities afforded to Guelph-Humber students can give them incredible advantages when applying for future roles.
The First-year Experience (FYE) programs connects new students with a senior student at the university and through other new student orientation events, international students are supported in their transition. Getting involved on campus is easy with the help of Student Life staff.
International students are eligible to receive a Renewable International Student Entrance Scholarship, worth up to CAD 20,500 over four years in additional to many in course scholarships. Upon graduation, students are ready to enter the work force, or apply to graduate and professional programs.

International Student Entrance Scholarship
The International Student Entrance Scholarship provides qualified students with tuition funding of up to CAD 20,500 over four years. Students don’t need to apply for this scholarship – any international student applying to the university is automatically considered for it, although not all students will receive it. Those who are successful will receive between CAD 2,000 and 8,500 in their first year, based on their average. If students continue to maintain a score of 80 per cent or above, the scholarship may be renewed for an additional CAD 4,000 per year, to a maximum of three years.
Successful students will receive the funds automatically in their university account, split across two payments. The first is made in first and the second is made at the start of second semester. Students only receive the funding if they are registered as a full-time student for that semester.
The University of Guelph-Humber lists country-specific entry requirements for international students dependent on where a student has completed their studies. To apply, international students will need to have achieved a similar standard required for admission to universities in their country.
International applicants should refer to the university’s International Applicant web page to view all admission requirements.
All programs have their own specific subject requirements that student need to present at the senior/advanced level.
For any students who do not have English as their first language, or if they have studied English for fewer than four years, it’s necessary to provide proof of proficiency in the language, as all courses are taught in English. Students will be notified if they are required to provide proof of their proficiency through a recognized test.
With the unique nature of the partnership between the University of Guelph and Humber College, students at Guelph-Humber benefit from professors and instructors at both institutions. Faculty are experts within their chosen field, many of whom remain active within their profession and/or have completed extensive research projects.
This contemporary faculty expertise is of great benefit to students who receive the highest quality instruction and access to the latest research, all of which equips them for employment in their chosen profession or further study. Staff are not just experts in their subject – they are also excellent tutors, fostering critical thinking skills and inspiring students to question the knowledge shared with them.
Along with the faculty experience, students benefit from small class sizes that give students more time with their teachers, working closely with them and gaining more time to tap into their wisdom.
The university has a wide range of excellent facilities for students to use across campus.
Students have access to the Humber Athletics Centre that offers varsity sports for the Humber Hawks and recreational facilities for team leagues and individual interests. Some of the facilities offered include three gyms, sports fields and a weight and cardio room. Students can try out for varsity sports teams, representing either the off-campus Guelph Gryphons or the on-campus Humber Hawks.
The Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre hosts the Health Centre, Counselling Services and Accessible Learning Services. There is also a Dental Clinic on campus.
There are many clubs and societies for students to get involved with. These vary from the Best Buddies of UofGH, Accounting, Business and Finance Club, Korean Drama Club to the Psych Society and Women in Business Society.
Students can live on campus in residence which is made up of three buildings overlooking the picturesque Humber Arboretum. Residence facilities include a laundry room, communal spaces and kitchens, a dining hall, and an exercise room. All first-time residents are given single rooms. Other suite-style rooms are generally available for repeat residents.
The University of Guelph-Humber offers a variety of study spaces including the Learning Commons area with individual and group spaces, quiet study rooms, and practice presentation rooms.
The University of Guelph-Humber has specific library staff to assist students with library resources. Through the University of Guelph and Humber College, students have access to extensive online and in-print collections.
