Overview

Vancouver Institute of Media Arts (VanArts) was established in 1995, with Academy-Award winning animator and director Lee Mishkin as the founding program director. Acknowledging the entertainment industry’s need for a specialized and skilled workforce, VanArts has, over the past 25 years, offered a range of highly focused diploma programs structured to prepare students to enter the industry as professionals in specific areas of entertainment and the media, such as Game Art & Design, Visual Effects Production, Acting for Film & Television, Web Development & Design and more. With its well-rounded curriculum of media, visual and performing arts and a faculty board that draws from the relevant industries, VanArts provides its students with the foundational skills and mentorship required to launch a career. Students gain creatively throughout their time in VFS and Vancouver, from academics and through school events and fun activities.
