What will I learn?

This course specifically aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, competencies and awareness in preparation for employment in agricultural research organisations and businesses as well as for higher degree research.

Course objectives

The Bachelor of Agricultural Science with Honours program aims to provide:

Advanced knowledge and scientific training in a specialised area of agricultural science;
Training in research as preparation for employment in a research organisation or for postgraduate study in Master or PhD programs.

Career outcomes

Students are well prepared for employment in research and other positions with industry, government and business organisations. An Honours degree also enables graduates to apply to undertake a Masters or PhD degree.

Admission to undergraduate courses at the University of Tasmania requires qualifications equivalent to the 12th year of schooling in Australia. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic) - 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5); TOEFL (IBT) 72 (no skill below: Reading 10; Listening 9; Speaking 16; Writing 19); PTE Academic 50 with no score lower than 42; UTAS Access-English Level 6 - 60% (no individual score less than 55%); Cambridge CAE (Certificate of Advanced English) - B Grade; Cambridge CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) - C Grade; Cambridge BEC (Business English Certificate) Higher - C Grade.
