What will I learn?

The Bachelor of Applied Commerce is a three year degree for people who want to work in the financial services sector. You can select to major in accounting or financial planning, or you can do a double major.

Not only has this course been developed in consultation with industry to ensure you get the knowledge and skills that employers want, you will do an industry placement in third year which will give you practical experience in a workplace setting, and helps you establish valuable industry contacts.

Careers in the financial services sector are diverse and graduates can find themselves working in a variety of settings depending on which major they have completed. By doing some additional subjects, students can graduate with a double major - accounting and financial planning.

Course Structure

To receive the Bachelor of Applied Commerce - Accounting Major students must complete all core units and, if available, a range of additional units.

This course has Certified Practicing Accountants of Australia (CPA) and Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand (CA ANZ) accreditation.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students must have Australian Year 12 or equivalent or (AQF) Certificate 4 qualification or Completion of at least one year full-time study or equivalent in a degree course at a Higher Education Institute. Academic IELTS overall score of 6.5 with a minimum level of 6.0 in all bands OR TOEFL (iBT) with the following minimum scores: overall 79, Reading 19, listening 20, speaking 20 and writing 20 OR Academic PTE with an overall score of 58 and minimum score of 50 in each component OR Cambridge English B2 First - 176 OR Occupational English Test (OET) with a minimum score of B in each of the 4 components.

For international students

Year 12 or equivalent, Certificate IV qualification in a relevant area, Diploma of Applied Commerce (HE20515).

Academic IELTS 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.0 or one of the following: Pearson Tests of English (PTE) Academic overall score of 58 and a minimum score of 50 in each component; TOEFL (iBT) with the following minimum scores: overall 79, reading 19, listening 20, speaking 20 and writing 20; TAFE NSW Certificate IV in English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
