Why study Media Studies?

The media industries are undergoing change at an unprecedented rate. The ways in which stories are produced and delivered are changing. The ways that audiences consume and interact with stories are changing. Business models are changing. For many it’s a time of great concern. For others it’s a time of great opportunity.

Media Studies combines journalism, sports journalism, media industries and public relations to create a major that offers a formidable skill-set.

You'll work with practicing media and communication professionals, learn how the role of the media is changing, and understand the practical aspects of developing content that meets your audience's expectations.

You'll gain experience in pitching ideas, researching for interviews, writing and producing compelling stories for different audiences across formats like video, audio and online platforms including blogs and mobile applications.

You'll also develop skills in using social media, and learn how audiences are both challenging and changing today's media landscape.
